From here, the main Russian strategic bomber base could be hit with PRSM missiles.<\/p>\n<p>The latest version of the M270A2 MLRS launcher features, among other things, a modernized fire control system, which, after modification, provides the ability to integrate the launcher with the latest types of long-range missiles, including: GMLRS-ER and PRSM.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the upgrade includes the installation of a new type of engine with a capacity of 600 horsepower, an improved gearbox and reinforced cabin armor to increase crew protection.<\/p>\n<p>Lockheed Martin, the system&#8217;s manufacturer, said in a statement on X&#8217;s website that the latest version of the vehicle is a &#8220;breakthrough&#8221; in its ability to engage enemy targets from much greater distances. The first upgraded A2-standard MLRS launcher was delivered to the Army in July 2022. The Army plans to upgrade 225 launchers in its inventory, and plans to upgrade 160 launchers that have been retired and are in storage.<\/p>\n<p>The launcher&#8217;s debut firing took place during the Dynamic Front 25 exercise, which is taking place in Finland at the Ravaj\u00e4rvi training ground, located north of the Arctic Circle, approximately 150 kilometers from the border with the Russian Federation. The training ground is approximately 380 kilometers from the Russian long-range strategic air base <a href=\"https:\/\/en.topwar.ru\/armament\/aviation\/\">aviation<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The latest missiles, which can be used in the upgraded M270A2 MLRS launchers, have a range of over 400 km. NATO&#8217;s provocative exercises near the Russian border show how much worse the situation has become since Finland joined the alliance. Finland&#8217;s accession to NATO has doubled the length of the alliance&#8217;s border with Russia.
