{"id":299372,"date":"2024-11-27T09:00:24","date_gmt":"2024-11-27T09:00:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/?p=299372"},"modified":"2024-11-29T08:56:51","modified_gmt":"2024-11-29T08:56:51","slug":"israels-netanyahu-announces-ceasefire-deal-in-lebanon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/?p=299372","title":{"rendered":"Israel\u2019s Netanyahu announces ceasefire deal in Lebanon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Israeli airstrike on Beirut Nov 26<\/p>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Press TV \u2013 Nov 26, 2024<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p><strong>Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced he backs a ceasefire deal in Lebanon after he convened his &#8220;security cabinet&#8221; to discuss the proposal put forward by the United States and France.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The cabinet approved the\u00a0ceasefire following two months of intensified\u00a0attacks on Lebanon, Israeli Channel 12 reported.<\/p>\n<p>The United States and France are expected to\u00a0announce the ceasefire deal in a joint statement.<\/p>\n<p>Lebanon&#8217;s parliament will\u00a0meet on Wednesday morning to discuss the agreement.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking in a televised address on Tuesday, Netanyahu said the length of the ceasefire depended on Hezbollah. \u201cWe will maintain full freedom of movement\u2026 if Hezbollah moves rockets into position we will attack.\u201d<\/p>\n<div align=\"center\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">\uf534 LIVE: Israeli PM Netanyahu announces approval of ceasefire in Lebanon. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/6pWGhaCRVX\">https:\/\/t.co\/6pWGhaCRVX<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Live Stream (@Stream_liv) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Stream_liv\/status\/1861474970620035260?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 26, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cWe will respond forcefully to any violation,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Netanyahu, however, said he would bring the full cabinet an outline of the ceasefire deal with Hezbollah for final approval.<\/p>\n<p>He said the ceasefire agreement means that Israel can now focus on the \u201cIranian threat\u201d, adding, \u201cWe are changing the face of the region.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Netanyahu said the ceasefire will also allow the Israeli military to take a rest and to focus on the Gaza Strip\u00a0and &#8220;intensify&#8221; pressure on Hamas.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the announcement, hostilities raged as Israel dramatically ramped up its airstrikes in capital Beirut and other parts of Lebanon.<\/p>\n<p>The Israeli military\u00a0issued its biggest forced evacuation warning yet, telling civilians to leave 20 locations. Israeli military spokesperson Avichay Adraee said earlier the air force was conducting a \u201cwidespread attack\u201d on targets across Beirut.<\/p>\n<p>Hezbollah has previously said that a total end to Israeli aggression and protection of Lebanon\u2019s sovereignty were its conditions for accepting any ceasefire deal.<\/p>\n<p>The ceasefire agreement requires Israeli troops to withdraw from south Lebanon and Lebanon\u2019s army to deploy in the region, officials said.<\/p>\n<p>Lebanon&#8217;s Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib said the Lebanese army was prepared\u00a0to deploy at least 5,000 troops in southern Lebanon as Israeli troops withdraw.<\/p>\n<p>Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati called on the international community to work quickly to implement the ceasefire and end the Israeli aggression.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe hysterical aggression this evening on Beirut confirms that the enemy does not value any law,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The Israeli regime initiated its full-scale war on Lebanon in late September when Netanyahu announced updated war objectives, emphasizing a determination to return hundreds of thousands of settlers to their homes in northern occupied Palestine.<\/p>\n<p>Israeli military commanders pledged to eradicate Hezbollah and eliminate its presence in southern Lebanon. However, they were ultimately compelled to accept a ceasefire agreement without achieving any of those goals.<\/p>\n<p>Far-right Israeli minister Itamar Ben-Gvir said Tuesday the agreement between Israel and Lebanon does not achieve the goal of returning the settlers of the north to their homes safely.<\/p>\n<p>Opposition leader Yair Lapid said Netanyahu&#8217;s cabident\u00a0was &#8220;dragged into an agreement with Hezbollah, currently the northern towns are destroyed, the lives of the residents have collapsed, and the army is exhausted.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.presstv.ir\/Detail\/2024\/11\/26\/737984\/Israeli-security-cabinet-approves-ceasefire-in-Lebanon-report\">Source<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With little in the way of territorial gains in southern Lebanon the IDF has been fought to a standstill.
