This is what a resident in the Ukrainian city of Dnipro said after <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/vladimir-putin\/\">Vladimir Putin<\/a>\u2019s unleashed \u2018Oreshnik\u2019, one of the <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2024\/11\/21\/vengeful-putin-unleashes-intercontinental-ballistic-missile-ukraine-first-time-22036043\/\">newest intermediate-range missiles<\/a> in <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/russia\/\">Russia<\/a>\u2019s arsenal.<\/p>\n<p>Initially, the weapon was mistaken for a 3,400-mile intercontinental ballistic missile \u2013 which would have been a first in the <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2024\/11\/22\/putin-makes-menacing-new-threat-russia-warns-uk-directly-involved-war-22043220\/\">history of the invasion<\/a>. At the end, it turned out to be something else.<\/p>\n<p>In an address to the nation, the president unveiled his new missile, named \u2018Oreshnik\u2019 or \u2018Hazel tree\u2019 in Russian.<\/p>\n<p>He said it was a hypersonic ballistic missile, which travelled at 10 times the speed of sound and so could not be intercepted.<\/p>\n<p>Putin further added that the strike in Dnipro was a test launch of the \u2018state-of-the-art missile\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Russian sources said the range was 3,100 miles, allowing the Kremlin to hit most of Europe and the west coast of the United States.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2024\/11\/22\/putins-new-hypersonic-oreshnik-missile-may-unstoppable-ukraine-22045136\/\">Continues \u2026<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Western mainstream media has played it down but Russia\u2019s new hypersonic Oreshnik missile is a \u201cgame changer\u201d, says Larry Johnson.
