In a watershed regional election the Alternative for Germany (AfD) has just trumped all of Germany\u2019s established political parties<\/p>\n

The ruling elite WILL NOT welcome this. That\u2019s why the mainstream media (MSM), which they largely own and\/or control doesn\u2019t present the Alternative for Germany (AfD) election victory as a triumph for the party.<\/p>\n

Instead, it focuses on the reaction of Germany\u2019s \u2018mainstream political parties. Like the mainstream media across the globe, Germany\u2019s mainstream political parties also serves the interests of a hidden ruling elite.<\/p>\n

Hence the media and political leaders refer to the AfD as \u201cfar right\u201d. The fact that they echo each other is an indication of how media is an extension of the mainstream political establishment.<\/p>\n

Of course, this isn\u2019t confined to Germany. A similar phenomenon can be witnessed in the re-emergence of Nigel Farage to the political fray in Britain. As with the AfD, Farage is often characterized by the MSM as being \u201cfar-right\u201d and \u201cracist\u201d<\/a>.<\/p>\n

This is how the political establishment, and allies in the mainstream media , strive to marginalize any threat to its power.<\/p>\n

However, it\u2019s clear that with the AfD election win and the burgeoning popularity of Farage\u2019s Reform Party that approach is failing. As a result we can expect the political establishment to adopt more draconian measures to contain what the media consistently refers to as the \u201cfar right\u201d. Ed.<\/p>\n

The German chancellor, Olaf Scholz, has urged mainstream parties to exclude \u201crightwing extremists\u201d, after preliminary results showed the far-right Alternative f\u00fcr Deutschland (AfD) had come top in a state election, while a new populist force on the left established a firm foothold in the country\u2019s political landscape<\/p>\n

Voters in two closely watched elections in the former communist east made clear their dissatisfaction with Germany\u2019s mainstream political parties, putting the AFD in the top spot in Thuringia, with 32.8% of the vote, and second place in Saxony, with 30.6%, according to preliminary results.<\/p>\n

Scholz called the results \u201cbitter\u201d and \u201cworrying\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur country cannot and must not get used to this. The AfD is damaging Germany. It is weakening the economy, dividing society and ruining our country\u2019s reputation,\u201d Scholz said, adding that the most dire predictions, that his centre-left Social Democrats (SPD) might fall out of a state parliament for the first time, had not materialised.<\/p>\n

Alice Weidel, the AfD\u2019s co-leader, said: \u201cIt is a historic success for us. It is the first time we have become the strongest force in a state election. It is a requiem for this coalition [in Berlin].\u201d<\/p>\n

The 11-year-old AfD clinched its first mayoral and district government posts last year, but has never joined a state government. The remaining, democratic parties have vowed to maintain a \u201cfirewall\u201d of opposition to working with the AfD, keeping it out of power.<\/p>\n

The results in Saxony and Thuringia proved disastrous for the three ruling parties in Scholz\u2019s centre-left-led federal government, each scoring single-digit percentage shares of the vote in both states one year before Germany holds its next general election.<\/p>\n
