{"id":287312,"date":"2024-05-11T05:22:14","date_gmt":"2024-05-11T05:22:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/?p=287312"},"modified":"2024-05-13T07:00:01","modified_gmt":"2024-05-13T07:00:01","slug":"rocks-looting-protests-how-israelis-are-blocking-gaza-bound-aid-trucks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/?p=287312","title":{"rendered":"Rocks, looting, protests: How Israelis are blocking Gaza-bound aid trucks"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Middle East Eye \u2013 May 10, 2024<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>Far-right <a href=\"https:\/\/www.middleeasteye.net\/countries\/israel\">Israeli<\/a> groups have taken extreme measures in recent day to block the passage of aid trucks bound for the besieged Gaza Strip.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, demonstrators cut off a road near the town of Mitzpe Ramon by forming a sit-in and scattering large rocks and stones across the road to prevent aid trucks and other vehicles from passing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDo you find it reasonable that the state of Israel will deliver medicine, food, and fuel to terrorists who are at this very moment torturing our daughters?\u201d one of the demonstrators said.<\/p>\n<p>Drone footage showed a long line of aid trucks effectively brought to a standstill along a winding narrow mountain pathway due to the protest.<\/p>\n<p>The protesters say that aid is helping Hamas, and believe that it should be blocked from entering Gaza until all Israeli captives taken to the enclave during the 7 October attack on southern Israel are freed.<\/p>\n<p>The UN\u00a0says the entire 2.3 million population of Gaza is facing high levels of acute food insecurity due to Israeli siege and attacks, and is in need of aid.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">A video posted to social media shows Israeli protesters scattering rocks on a road in the town of Mitzpe Ramon in Negev, also known as Naqab in Arabic, to block the entrance of aid trucks to Gaza. Police said several trucks and their contents were damaged.<\/p>\n<p>Israeli public broadcaster Kan reported that protesters punctured the tyres of one truck. On another truck, demonstrators threw aid &#8211; including food &#8211; on to the road.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDozens of protesters began to disturb the peace when they blocked humanitarian aid trucks travelling towards the Gaza Strip in accordance with the decision of the Israeli government,\u201d Israeli police said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome of them caused damage to the trucks travelling on these roads and their contents.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Israeli settlers damaged humanitarian aid trucks, including slashing their tyres and destroying boxes of food, as they were bound for Gaza at the Beit Hanoun (Erez) crossing. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/kDjKbvNq7j\">pic.twitter.com\/kDjKbvNq7j<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Middle East Eye (@MiddleEastEye) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MiddleEastEye\/status\/1788257894430859628?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 8, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/nbjovsr88\/status\/1787622268236951733\">video<\/a> posted on social media showed Israelis dumping bags of flour from an aid truck onto the road.<\/p>\n<p>Days earlier, Tzav 9 organised a protest at the King Hussein Bridge (Allenby) crossing between Jordan and the occupied West Bank.<\/p>\n<p>Protesters sat in front of trucks, holding up Israeli flags and pictures of captives held in Gaza.<\/p>\n<p>Jordan said the aid convoys were attacked by \u201cextremist Israeli settlers\u201d, condemning the action \u201cin the strongest terms\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe ministry considered the failure of the Israeli government to protect the two aid convoys, and allowing them to be attacked, as a brutal violation of its legal obligations, as the occupying power and of its obligations to allow aid to enter Gaza,\u201d Jordan\u2019s foreign ministry said last week.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Crossings closed<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Israel closed the Karem Abu Salem (Kerem Shalom) crossing along the boundary between Gaza, Israel and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.middleeasteye.net\/countries\/egypt\">Egypt<\/a>, on Sunday following a deadly Hamas rocket attack on a nearby military site that killed four Israeli soldiers and wounded 10 others.<\/p>\n<p>The Rafah crossing, the only route in and out of Gaza not controlled by Israel, was captured by Israeli forces on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.middleeasteye.net\/countries\/palestine\">Palestinian<\/a> officials at the crossing have said that passenger entries and aid deliveries have since stopped due to the Israeli ground invasion of the area.<\/p>\n<p>Israeli authorities said they re-opened the Beit Hanoun (Erez) crossing in northern Gaza last month, allowing limited non-fuel supplies to enter the enclave. The crossing, which is mostly used for foot traffic rather than goods, was closed in October after it was destroyed during Hamas&#8217;s attack.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Erez will simply not be enough,&#8221; said James Elder, spokesperson for the UN children&#8217;s agency, on Tuesday. &#8220;If Rafah gate closes for an extended period, it&#8217;s hard to see how famine in Gaza can be averted.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In the genocide case against Israel, the International Court of Justice in January issued a provisional ruling ordering the country to enable the entry of urgent humanitarian aid into Gaza.<\/p>\n<p>But well before the capture of the Rafah crossing this week, Israel had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.middleeasteye.net\/news\/how-israel-defied-icj-provisional-measures\">already been found<\/a> to be defying the order by directly bombing aid convoys and impeding aid deliveries through delays, denials of entry and protests.<\/p>\n<p>Israelis from across the political spectrum have been gathering at Karem Abu Salem to stop the delivery of humanitarian aid since January.<\/p>\n<p>Many had set up tents in the area, and blocked aid entries by lying across the ground in front of trucks. Israeli authorities subsequently declared the area a military zone, in order to clear protesters.<\/p>\n<p>In just one day, on 6 February, the protesters <a href=\"https:\/\/www.middleeasteye.net\/news\/israeli-protesters-set-tents-block-humanitarian-aid-entering-gaza\">blocked<\/a> the delivery of 130 aid trucks entering Gaza.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.middleeasteye.net\/news\/rocks-looting-protests-far-right-israelis-block-aid-trucks-gaza\">Source<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>While many Jews around the world are appalled at Israel\u2019s action in Gaza it\u2019s different in the Zionist state.
