{"id":284472,"date":"2024-03-29T09:07:36","date_gmt":"2024-03-29T09:07:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/?p=284472"},"modified":"2024-03-31T07:48:19","modified_gmt":"2024-03-31T07:48:19","slug":"a-ukrainian-soldier-said-that-ukraines-losses-are-so-heavy-where-hes-fighting-that-they-struggle-to-recover-the-bodies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/?p=284472","title":{"rendered":"A Ukrainian soldier said that Ukraine&#8217;s losses are so heavy where he&#8217;s fighting that they struggle to recover the bodies"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Mia Jankowitz \u2013 Business Insider March 18, 2024<\/strong><\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li>A Ukrainian soldier says they&#8217;re suffering heavy casualties and are struggling in the country&#8217;s northeast.<\/li>\n<li>Part of this is down to Russia&#8217;s increased use of glide bombs, per The Times of London.<\/li>\n<li>F-16s could help counter this threat, but they are not expected to arrive until the summer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A Ukrainian soldier fighting near the country&#8217;s northern front line has described the menace of Russia&#8217;s bombardment, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetimes.co.uk\/article\/ukraine-dragons-teeth-russia-glide-bombs-take-toll-9pc9rmhvh\" data-ylk=\"slk:telling the Times of London;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" data-rapid_p=\"9\" data-v9y=\"1\">telling the Times of London<\/a> that they are &#8220;losing so many people, there are so many bodies we can&#8217;t even bring them all back.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Describing the fight as &#8220;fucking awful,&#8221; the soldier, identified by the paper as Lemur, added that Ukrainian forces in the area can&#8217;t move forward.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We can barely hold the line,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>According to the outlet, Lemur is fighting at Kupiansk in Ukraine&#8217;s Kharkiv Oblast, around where <a href=\"https:\/\/understandingwar.org\/backgrounder\/russian-offensive-campaign-assessment-march-15-2024\" data-ylk=\"slk:the Institute for the Study of War;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" data-rapid_p=\"10\" data-v9y=\"1\">the Institute for the Study of War<\/a> has reported marginal Russian gains in recent days.<\/p>\n<p>A major factor in the current Russian offensive is glide bombs, which Russia has stepped up the use of in the last three months.<\/p>\n<p>These are Soviet-era bombs tricked out with guidance systems and wings enabling long-distance strikes.<\/p>\n<p>As of last month, Russia was using them intensely around three flashpoints of the war: Kupiansk, the eastern city of Bakhmut, and Robotyne, a strategic southeastern village, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kyivpost.com\/post\/28115\" data-ylk=\"slk:the Kyiv Post reported;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" data-rapid_p=\"11\" data-v9y=\"0\">the Kyiv Post reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Launched from aircraft at a distance and then guided to their target, the small radar signature and short flight time of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/russia-steps-up-production-glide-guided-bombs-priority-devastate-ukraine-2024-3?utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_source=yahoo.com\" data-ylk=\"slk:glide bombs;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" data-rapid_p=\"12\" data-v9y=\"0\">glide bombs<\/a> makes them hard for Ukraine&#8217;s already-strained air defense systems to detect and shoot down.<\/p>\n<p>Russia is reported to be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/russian-glide-bombs-headache-ukraine-moscow-making-new-ones-2024-1?utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_source=yahoo.com\" data-ylk=\"slk:ramping up its production of the bombs;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" data-rapid_p=\"13\" data-v9y=\"0\">ramping up its production of the bombs<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Glide bombs were a factor in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/ukraine-troops-pull-out-key-eastern-town-avdiivka-russia-2024-2?utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_source=yahoo.com\" data-ylk=\"slk:Russian capture of Avdiivka;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" data-rapid_p=\"14\" data-v9y=\"0\">Russian capture of Avdiivka<\/a> in mid-February, its only major success in recent months.
