Syrian air defense units have intercepted and shot down most of the missiles launched by the Israeli military near the country\u2019s capital city of Damascus, local media reported. <\/strong><\/p>\n

According to\u00a0local Syrian media\u00a0reports, early on Sunday, Israeli military aircraft \u201ccarried out an aerial attack from the direction of the occupied Golan Heights, and targeted several sites in the Damascus countryside.\u201d<\/p>\n

The reports added that Syrian air defenses shot down most of the missiles. There were no injuries in the strike, but there were material losses.<\/p>\n

Israel often conducts airstrikes on military installations in Syria, particularly those belonging to the Lebanese resistance group Hezbollah.<\/p>\n

Hezbollah has been instrumental in supporting the Syrian army in its battle against terrorists backed by foreign entities.<\/p>\n

The Tel Aviv regime infrequently acknowledges its military actions within Syrian territories, which is widely interpreted as a knee-jerk reaction to the Syrian government\u2019s triumph over terrorism.<\/p>\n

Since the onset of foreign-backed militancy in Syria in 2011, Israel has stood as a staunch supporter of terrorist factions that are in opposition to the democratically-elected leadership of President Bashar al-Assad.<\/p>\n

The recent strikes also come amid an upsurge in Israel\u2019s acts of aggression against Syria and its ongoing genocidal war against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip which has killed at least 32,142 Palestinians, most of them women and children.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, the Israeli regime also attacked several military positions belonging to Syria near Damascus.<\/p>\n

The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates says Israel is desperately attempting to cover up its abject failures in the Gaza Strip by attacking the Syrian territory. Observers have described these attacks as a reckless bid threatening to fan tensions throughout the region.<\/p>\n

Israel launched the bloody war on Gaza on October 7, 2023, after the Palestinian Hamas resistance movement launched Operation al-Aqsa Storm in the occupied territories in retaliation for the Tel Aviv regime\u2019s relentless crimes against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.<\/p>\n
