{"id":283931,"date":"2024-03-19T07:55:39","date_gmt":"2024-03-19T07:55:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/?p=283931"},"modified":"2024-03-21T08:22:05","modified_gmt":"2024-03-21T08:22:05","slug":"if-we-want-peace-we-must-prepare-for-war-charles-michel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/?p=283931","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;If we want peace, we must prepare for war&#8217;: Charles Michel"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Armen Press \u2013March 19, 2024<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>President of the European Council Charles Michel said in an article on Monday that Europe must strenghthen its defences in shift to a \u201cwar economy\u201d mode in the face of the war in Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>In the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.euractiv.com\/section\/defence-and-security\/opinion\/if-we-want-peace-we-must-prepare-for-war\/\">article<\/a> \u201cIf we want peace, we must prepare for war\u201d, published in Euractive on the eve of the EU leaders meeting in Brussels he recalled the telephone conversation with Ukraine&#8217;s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at 3:30 in the morning of February 24, 2022.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHearing Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy\u2019s grave voice over the phone say \u201cBombs are falling on us, it\u2019s a full invasion,\u201d I knew at that moment the entire post-World War II security arrangement had changed forever. The EU also has to change fast with it,\u201d he writes.<\/p>\n<p>According to the European Council President, two years on from the start of the war, it is now \u201cclear that Russia will not stop in Ukraine, just as it did not stop in Crimea ten years ago.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRussia continues its destabilising tactics \u2014 in Moldova, Georgia, the South Caucasus, the Western Balkans and even further afield on the African continent,\u201d Michel writes.<\/p>\n<p>He also emphasizes that Europe could \u201cbe next\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRussia is a serious military threat to our European continent and global security. If we do not get the EU\u2019s response right and do not give Ukraine enough support to stop Russia, we are next,\u201d he adds.<\/p>\n<p>The European Council President suggests shifting to a \u2018war economy\u2019 mode.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s time to take responsibility for our security.
