{"id":275018,"date":"2023-10-28T05:26:49","date_gmt":"2023-10-28T05:26:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/?p=275018"},"modified":"2023-10-30T08:05:36","modified_gmt":"2023-10-30T08:05:36","slug":"israel-blasts-antisemitic-amnesty-over-finding-of-war-crimes-by-all-parties","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/?p=275018","title":{"rendered":"Israel blasts \u2018antisemitic\u2019 Amnesty over finding of \u2018war crimes, by all parties\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Paul Dallison and Peter Wilke \u2013 Politico Oct 16, 2023<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>Israel has criticized Amnesty International as \u201cbiased\u201d after the rights group <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amnesty.org\/en\/latest\/news\/2023\/10\/israel-opt-urgent-call-for-an-immediate-ceasefire-by-all-parties-to-end-unprecedented-civilian-suffering\/\">published a statement<\/a> saying that \u201cserious violations of international humanitarian law, including war crimes, by all parties to the conflict continue unabated.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Amnesty called on Thursday for \u201can immediate ceasefire by all parties.\u201d Its secretary-general, Agn\u00e8s Callamard, said in the statement that \u201curgent action is needed to protect civilians and prevent further staggering levels of human suffering.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But her claim that \u201cwar crimes\u201d had been committed \u201cby all parties\u201d drew a harsh response from Israel.<\/p>\n<p>Lior Haiat, spokesperson for the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told POLITICO that \u201cAmnesty International is an antisemitic organization that is biased against Israel,\u201d adding that \u201cit lacks moral authority to portray itself as a human rights organization.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Haiat added: \u201cThe organization\u2019s silence following the atrocities committed by Hamas terrorists on October 7, where over 1,400 Israelis, including babies, children, women, and the elderly were murdered, and over 220 people were kidnapped to the Gaza Strip, only serves to demonstrate that Amnesty International is a propaganda organization working for Hamas terrorists.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In Gaza, Israel\u2019s airstrikes have killed more than 6,500 Palestinians, including more than 2,700 children, according to the Amnesty International statement.<\/p>\n<p>Amnesty was also criticized in the early days of Russia\u2019s war on Ukraine, with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.eu\/article\/ukraine-rejects-amnesty-international-report-accusing-troops-of-endangering-civilians\/\">dismissing a report<\/a> that\u00a0argued Kyiv\u2019s wartime tactics were endangering civilians and violating international law.
