Iran is not pursuing a nuclear weapons program<\/a> at this time, the United States assessed in a newly released report on countering weapons of mass destruction published on Friday.<\/p>\n

The Defense Department report, titled 2023 Strategy for Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction, identified the Islamic Republic as a “persistent threat” and warned that it could build a nuclear weapon in two weeks.<\/p>\n

“Iran not pursuing a nuclear weapons program at this time, but has the capacity to produce enough fissile material for a nuclear device in less than two weeks,” the report noted.<\/p>\n

In the report, the US criticized Iran for its noncompliance with obligations made under the Chemical Weapons Convention and voiced concerns that Tehran is pursuing “dual-use central nervous system-acting chemicals<\/a> for offensive purposes.”<\/p>\n

The report also identified the Islamic Republic as a “regional threat” to the Middle East that must be addressed.<\/p>\n

So all the repeated warnings<\/a> about Iran being on the verge of developing nuclear weapons were just scare-mongering.<\/p>\n

Of course the Western powers and their compliant media knew that Iran had long ago rejected nuclear weapons for being against the principles of Islam. That\u2019s because in the mid-nineteen-nineties, the Ayatollah Khamenei issued a fatwa that expressly prohibited the acquisition, development and use of nuclear weapons<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Israel and the Zionist owned and\/or controlled Western media chose to ignore this. Preferring instead to portray Iran as posing a potential nuclear threat, just as they once did with Saddam Hussein\u2019s Weapons of Mass Destruction.<\/p>\n

In effect stories about Iran\u2019s nuclear weapons program were propaganda used to drum up support for Western military action against Iran.<\/p>\n
