{"id":273345,"date":"2023-09-16T05:06:44","date_gmt":"2023-09-16T05:06:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/?p=273345"},"modified":"2023-09-16T05:35:02","modified_gmt":"2023-09-16T05:35:02","slug":"congressional-witness-liberals-siding-with-corporations-to-keep-wages-down-via-mass-immigration","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/?p=273345","title":{"rendered":"Congressional Witness: Liberals Siding with Corporations to Keep Wages Down via Mass Immigration"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>John Binder \u2013 Breibart Sept 14, 2023<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>Liberals are siding with corporate America over the nation\u2019s workers in their promotion of mass immigration, a key tool in keeping wages down, Center for Immigration Studies Director of Research Steven Camarota told lawmakers this week.<\/p>\n<p>During a hearing before the House Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions Subcommittee, led by Chairman Bob Good (R-VA), Camarota said liberals \u2014 such as President Joe Biden \u2014 have broken with historical precedent in recent decades to defend the interests of corporations against American workers when it comes to national immigration policy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHistorically, progressives from\u00a0Eugene Debs to\u00a0A. Philip Randolph, they got that if you have lots of immigration, you tend to push down wages,\u201d Camarota said:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Unfortunately, a lot of progressives are lying with corporate America on this \u2014 they want low wages.<\/strong>\u00a0And\u00a0<strong>they\u2019re perfectly happy to ignore this crisis of non-work among working-age people, particularly the U.S.-born.<\/strong>\u00a0Immigrants haven\u2019t suffered this same problem. It\u2019s particularly U.S.-born men without a college degree and we know it\u2019s a social disaster. [Emphasis added]<\/p>\n<p>Even former President Obama, in his 2006 book\u00a0<em>The\u00a0Audacity of Hope<\/em>, admitted that illegal immigration threatened the wages of America\u2019s working class:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">&quot;The number of immigrants added to the labor force every year is of a magnitude not seen in this country for over a century.&quot; <br \/>&#8212; Barack Obama, The Audacity of Hope <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/R10Np1r2m1\">pic.twitter.com\/R10Np1r2m1<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; NumbersUSA (@NumbersUSA) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NumbersUSA\/status\/1300173350870945798?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 30, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As Breitbart News reported, Camarota estimates that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2023\/08\/21\/joe-bidens-labor-market-44m-americans-out-workforce-foreign-workers-hold-more-jobs-ever\/\">more than 44 million<\/a>\u00a0native-born Americans remain on the labor market sidelines \u2014 not including the millions of native-born Americans counted in monthly unemployment figures.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf we curtailed immigration and enforced our law, we would be forced to draw these people back which will not be easy \u2026 less immigration would be enormously helpful but it is not the only issue,\u201d Camarota said:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>One of the things immigration is doing is holding down wages, there\u2019s some crowding out \u2026 it\u2019s letting us ignore this problem [of non-work].<\/strong>\u00a0If we didn\u2019t have access to all this immigrant labor, employers and the American people \u2026 would demand that we try to reinstill the value of work.\u00a0<strong>Raising wages would be one of the most important things to make work more attractive. Immigration lets us not do any of that,<\/strong>\u00a0including the current flow of massive illegal immigration.
