Click to enlarge<\/p><\/div>\n<p>To much of the public, marijuana is relatively innocuous compared to illicit narcotics.<\/p>\n<p>But many researchers have come to the conclusion this view is false, especially when a person uses the drug on a regular basis.<\/p>\n<p>Researchers from the Aarhus University Hospital in Denmark recently delved into the records of more than 6.6 million people in Denmark born between 1985 and 2021 and found of those with cannabis use disorder &#8211; defined as being unable to stop using in spite of it causing damage to their health and social lives &#8211; about 41 percent of those individuals were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/health\/article-12119635\/Chronic-cannabis-use-raises-risk-major-depression-bipolar-disorder-FOUR-TIMES.html\"><strong>diagnosed with major depression<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>They also found chronic marijuana use quadrupled a person\u2019s risk of being diagnosed with bipolar disorder.<\/p>\n<p>There have been many anecdotal reports of high-potency marijuana vapes causing psychotic breaks, suicidal thoughts, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/health\/article-11655217\/Driven-suicide-weed-Three-families-share-highly-potent-weed-tore-lives-apart.html\"><strong>and deaths by suicide<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, chronic cannabis use has been known to trigger the onset of schizophrenia and psychotic breaks.<\/p>\n<p>A study published in the May issue of the journal Psychological Medicine found cannabis use disorder was linked to about 30 percent of schizophrenia diagnoses in young Danish men in the year 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Nora Volkow, the director of the federal National Institute on Drug Abuse who co-authored the study has proven a staunch advocate for tighter rules governing access to the drug.<\/p>\n<p>She said, according to their findings, \u2018As access to potent cannabis products continues to expand, it is crucial that we also expand prevention, screening, and treatment for people who may experience mental illnesses associated with cannabis use.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>And as marijuana limits have loosened, a black market industry of high potency strains and vapes has emerged, with such products that provide a high much more potent than previous ones.<\/p>\n<p>Regular cannabis use can disrupt the delicate balance of neurotransmitters responsible for regulating mood and motivation.<\/p>\n<p>Many people who already live with depression may self-medicate with marijuana for its calming abilities, but continued use could actually have the opposite effect.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>It IS addictive\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Contrary to popular belief, it is possible to become addicted to cannabis.
