Screenings of the hit movie Sound of Freedom<\/em> that were set to take place at\u00a0U.S. Southern Command, or Southcom, headquarters have been abruptly cancelled after The Military Times<\/em> publication inquired about the showings.<\/p>\n

In its report about the cancellation, The Military Times<\/em> disparagingly described the movie as \u201cQAnon-embraced\u201d and \u201cChristian-faith-based\u201d in what appears to be an attempt to discredit the movie\u2019s artistic legitimacy.<\/p>\n

The article also cast aspersions on Tim Ballard, the real-life inspiration for the movie whose career as a Homeland Security agent led to his ongoing personal mission to rescue children from sex-trafficking rings.<\/p>\n

Both reporters of the article are alumni of the far-left wing The<\/em>\u00a0Texas Tribune,\u00a0<\/em>according to their online bios.<\/p>\n

Sound of Freedom<\/em> \u2014 which emerged as the sleeper hit of the summer and has grossed \u00a0more than $182 million \u2014 was scheduled to have two screenings at Southcom headquarters in Doral, Florida, on\u00a0August 28 and October 19.<\/p>\n

An e-mail flier\u00a0obtained by The Military Times<\/em><\/a> invited all locally based personnel to attend.<\/p>\n

The screenings were being held \u201cin support of SOUTHCOM\u2019s mission to promote respect for human rights and combating trafficking in persons in Central and South America and the Caribbean,\u201d the e-mail said.<\/p>\n

The bottom of the invite reportedly stated, \u201cThe showing of this film does not imply or constitute endorsement by the U.S. Army nor SOUTHCOM.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Military Times<\/em> said it contacted Southcom about the screenings, after which the showings were called off.<\/p>\n

A subsequent e-mail reportedly said the cancellation was to \u201cprevent the appearance of copyright infringement,\u201d adding that \u201cthe film is currently available to view at local theaters, and personnel and their families who would like to see the film are encouraged to do so.\u201d<\/p>\n

The independently produced and distributed Sound of Freedom<\/em> has surpassed the latest Indiana Jones and Mission: Impossible movies at the domestic box office \u2014 an accomplishment fueled largely by positive word of mouth.<\/p>\n

As Breitbart News reported, \u00a0former President Donald Trump recently\u00a0hosted a special screening of the movie<\/a> at his club in Bedminster, New Jersey, where he praised the movie and later vowed<\/a> to make human trafficking a capital offense.<\/p>\n
