{"id":272555,"date":"2023-08-24T05:04:25","date_gmt":"2023-08-24T05:04:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/?p=272555"},"modified":"2023-08-25T07:41:23","modified_gmt":"2023-08-25T07:41:23","slug":"young-migrant-girl-boards-coach-in-dover-as-dozens-of-asylum-seekers-arrive-on-border-force-ship-after-being-picked-up-in-the-channel-as-total-now-hits-more-than-18000-this-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/?p=272555","title":{"rendered":"Young migrant girl boards coach in Dover as dozens of asylum seekers arrive on Border Force ship after being picked up in the Channel &#8211; as total now hits more than 18,000 this year"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li>A record-breaking number of 661 migrants arrived in the UK on Monday<\/li>\n<li>The new totals bring the total that have crossed the Channel this year to 18,618<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Eleanor Dye \u2013 Daily Mail Aug 23, 2023<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>A young migrant girl has been pictured boarding a coach in Dover today as dozens of asylum seekers including children arrived on a Border Force ship after being picked up in the Channel.<\/p>\n<p>More than 18,000 people have now crossed the waters in small boats so far this year.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/the-home-office\/index.html\"><strong>Home Office<\/strong><\/a> data showed that a record-breaking number of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-12429785\/More-800-migrants-land-Britain-busiest-day-Channel-crossings-year-smiling-asylum-seekers-make-Albanias-controversial-eagle-hand-sign-V-Victory-gesture-arrive.html\"><strong>661 people arrived in the UK on Monday<\/strong><\/a> &#8211; the third-highest daily figure so far this year.<\/p>\n<p>They arrived in 15 boats, which is the highest number for a single day since the start of the year.<\/p>\n<p>The new arrivals bring the total that have crossed the Channel in small boats this year to 18,618, according to government data.<\/p>\n<p>However this is down from last year&#8217;s total at this stage, which stood at 21,300. Last year saw a record 45,755 people cross the Channel &#8211; compared to 28,526 in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>More people were brought into the port of Dover this morning after a small boat incident in a Channel, with a group thought to be migrants arriving on a Border Force ship.<\/p>\n<p>The number is expected to rise again throughout the week as calm conditions on the sea mean many in France will attempt the journey across the sea.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_239712\" style=\"width: 370px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/migrants-on-local-lifeboat.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-239712\" class=\"wp-image-239712\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/migrants-on-local-lifeboat.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"360\" height=\"211\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-239712\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Above, illegal migrants helped ashore after being &#8216;rescued&#8217; in the English Channel. Click to enlarge<\/p><\/div>\n<p>It comes as yet another blow for Rishi Sunak&#8217;s pledge to &#8216;stop the boats&#8217;, with the Prime Minister admitting on Monday that the pledge may not be fulfilled\u00a0before the next election.<\/p>\n<p>He said: &#8216;I want it to be done as soon as possible, but I also want to be honest with people that it is a complex problem.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;There is not one simple solution and it can\u2019t be solved overnight and I wouldn\u2019t be being straight with people if I said that was possible.<\/p>\n<p>Migrants arriving on Monday were seen making Albania&#8217;s controversial eagle hand sign and the &#8216;V for Victory&#8217; gesture at photographers.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>The government is facing a legal challenge to its plans to send asylum seekers to Rwanda after judges blocked the scheme on human rights grounds.<\/p>\n<p>The case is due to be heard at the Supreme Court in early October but even if it is given the green light, removal flights won&#8217;t take place until January.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-12436911\/18-000-make-Channel-crossings-small-boats-year.html\">Continues \u2026<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The UK government policy of picking up migrants at sea, landing them and then ferrying them by coach to hotels where they are fed and housed at taxpayers expense is only encouraging more migrants.
