Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy<\/a> reportedly paid to have his Wikipedia page<\/a> \u201cscrubbed\u201d of potentially politically damaging details about his past.<\/p>\n

Mediaite is reporting<\/a> that the page now\u00a0includes a warning that the article has \u201cmultiple issues,\u201d \u201ccontains paid contributions\u201d and \u201cmay require cleanup to comply with Wikipedia\u2019s content policies, particularly neutral point of view.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Wikipedia article\u2019s version history shows that in February, an editor identified by Mediaite as Jhofferman<\/a> removed lines about Ramaswamy receiving a Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowship for New Americans in 2011.<\/p>\n

Since Paul Soros is the older brother of billionaire George Soros, who funds many progressive causes, it\u2019s understandable Ramaswamy wouldn\u2019t want potential voters to be aware of that connection.<\/p>\n

Ramaswamy\u2019s page was also edited to remove his role on the state of Ohio\u2019s COVID-19 Response Team, which an editor noted came on Ramaswamy\u2019s request to have his COVID-era work removed.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the editor deemed Ramaswamy\u2019s Soros fellowship \u201cextraneous material.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ramaswamy announced his presidential run just two weeks after the changes to the Wikipedia page.<\/p>\n

Jhofferman\u2019s user page on the website notes that Ramashamy paid him for his work on the page.<\/p>\n

Wikipedia editors debated<\/a> the conflict of interest after the alterations were made. Mediaite notes that the reference to Ramaswamy\u2019s fellowship was later added to the page, but his work on the Ohio COVID team is still absent.<\/p>\n

HuffPost reached out to Ramaswamy\u2019s campaign for comment, but no one immediately responded.<\/p>\n

Ramaswamy, a multimillionaire biotech entrepreneur and conservative activist, became the second person after Donald Trump to announce a run to be the Republican presidential nomination.<\/p>\n

Although he is currently polling at 2.6% according to RealClearPolitics.com,<\/a>\u00a0he said last month that he expected \u201cthe dynamics of this race<\/a> will change dramatically after that first debate.\u201d<\/p>\n
