\u201cWhile there is clearly resentment building regarding Zelensky\u2019s perceived lack of appreciation for the money and munitions the West is sending his way, the spigot for those supplies remains wide open,\u201d he added.<\/em><\/p>\nOn July 21, the Biden administration announced\u00a0that the US plans\u00a0a new military assistance package for Ukraine\u00a0worth up to $400 million, primarily comprised of artillery, air defence missiles and ground vehicles, but no cluster munitions.<\/p>\n
According to Reuters, included in the package are several Stryker armoured personnel carriers, mine clearing equipment, munitions for National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile Systems (NASAMS), munitions for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS), anti-tank weapons including TOW and Javelin and munitions for Patriot and Stinger anti-aircraft system. However, these are unlikely to make any difference to the war effort since Western equipment is almost immediately destroyed once entering the battlefield.<\/p>\n
It was revealed on July 23 that the Russian military\u00a0had destroyed a record amount of\u00a0Western-supplied\u00a0armour to Ukraine in only 24 hours while repelling Kiev\u2019s long-awaited counter-offensive. Russian forces\u00a0had eliminated at least 15 German-made Leopard tanks and more than 20\u00a0US-made\u00a0Bradley infantry fighting vehicles in just one engagement. At the same time, since the start of the\u00a0Ukrainian counteroffensive\u00a0in the first week of June,\u00a0Kiev\u00a0has lost over 26,000 soldiers, confirming that the long-awaited attack was nothing more than a failure.<\/p>\n
The New York Times\u00a0reported\u00a0on July 15 that the Ukrainian military\u00a0lost 20% of its battlefield equipment, including many Western-supplied vehicles, in the first two weeks of the offensive.\u00a0That was preceded by Russian Defence Minister\u00a0Sergei Shoigu saying on July 11 that there was an estimated Ukrainian loss of 3,000 units of military equipment.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Western officials have expressed\u00a0alarm at Ukraine\u2019s slow progress on the battlefield, with a recent Wall Street Journal article\u00a0claiming\u00a0that they, too, have been jolted by the rapid loss of military equipment.\u00a0However, several Ukrainian officials\u00a0tried to explain\u00a0the difficulties in the offensive by pointing to delays in Western military assistance.<\/p>\n
The media coverage over Biden\u2019s frustration with Zelensky, which has existed since at least June 2022, coupled with reports of the catastrophic loss of equipment and soldiers, has not deterred the West from supporting Ukraine. Despite Biden\u2019s complaints of Zelensky\u2019s spoiled behaviour, it has not deterred the US from pouring billions into Ukraine.<\/p>\n
This is the same masochistic behaviour that the UK employs.<\/p>\n
It is recalled that British Foreign Secretary Ben Wallace<\/strong> told reporters at the annual NATO summit in Lithuania earlier this month that Kiev\u00a0should not treat its western partners\u00a0like \u201cAmazon.\u201d<\/p>\n\u201cI told them that last June. I said to the Ukrainians, when I drove 11 hours to be given a list: \u2018I\u2019m not Amazon,\u2019\u201d Wallace said, adding, \u201cWhether we like it or not, people want to see gratitude.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\nUltimately, Zelensky fired his ambassador to the UK on July 21 after the ambassador criticised the president\u2019s \u201csarcasm\u201d in response to Wallace suggesting Kiev should be more grateful for Western support.<\/p>\n
This highlights the spoiled behaviour of Zelensky, but it also demonstrates why he has the audacity to behave in such an entitled behaviour \u2013 the Anglo hatred for Russia is so strong that they are willing to be continually humiliated and lambasted by an inferior country, Ukraine.<\/p>\n
