She was Macedonian, a descendant of one of the generals of Alexander the Great, who conquered Egypt in the fourth century B.C. Unfortunately, America\u2019s school children aren\u2019t taught enough genuine history to know that.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>During a phone interview with \u201cHadith al-Qahira\u201d (Cairo Talk) talk show on the \u201cal-Qahira wal Nas\u201d (Cairo and the People) channel, Hawass stressed \u201cWe are not against blacks, and if the same situation happened with the continent of Asia, I would object to them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He emphasized that Cleopatra was burgundy in color, and not dark-skinned, and this a fallacy bought into by African Americans.<\/p>\n<p>Hawass pointed out that \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=zdGThahx5sE&amp;embeds_referring_euri=https%3A%2F%2Fenglish.ahram.org.eg%2F&amp;source_ve_path=MjM4NTE&amp;feature=emb_title\">our film, which we released about Cleopatra<\/a>, also received international attention, and this film responded strongly to the whole world.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>\u2018They are stealing my culture\u2019!<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/egyptindependent.com\/video-they-are-stealing-my-culture-bassem-youssef-slams-netflixs-cleopatra\/\">Egyptian satirist and journalist Bassem Youssef slammed Netflix\u2019s \u201cQueen Cleopatra\u201d<\/a>, calling it a falsification of history after it released the special trailer for the documentary series which revolves around the Queen Cleopatra VII, the last<\/p>\n<p>Youssef Tweeted: \u201cPeople from West Africa and other nationalities agree with the point of view that I put forward.
