All of Kiev\u2019s decisions are ultimately dictated by Washington, including which targets to hit and by what means, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov claimed on Thursday. His comments came after two Ukrainian drones unsuccessfully attempted to strike the Kremlin in the early hours of Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n

\u201cSuch decisions \u2013 the definition of goals, the definition of means, and so on \u2013 all this is dictated to Kiev from Washington, and we are well aware of this,\u201d<\/em> Peskov told reporters.<\/p>\n

The spokesman for President Vladimir Putin dismissed attempts by US and Ukrainian officials to \u201cdisown\u201d<\/em> Wednesday\u2019s attack as \u201claughable,\u201d<\/em> insisting that \u201cwe know full well that decisions to carry out such terrorist actions are made not in Kiev, but in Washington.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Peskov asserted that it is important that the US \u201cclearly understands\u201d<\/em> that Russia is aware of its involvement in Ukraine and \u201chow dangerous such direct involvement is.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

The spokesman said that Kiev\u2019s attempted drone strike on the Kremlin is being thoroughly investigated, but did not provide estimates on when any conclusions would be officially announced.<\/p>\n

Peskov reiterated that Moscow reserves the right to respond to the attack with \u201ca variety of steps.\u201d<\/em> Although declining to specify what those measures might be, the Kremlin official insisted they would be carefully considered and \u201cin line with Russia\u2019s interests.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Putin\u2019s office reported on Wednesday that two Ukrainian UAVs had been disabled by air defenses while trying to strike the president\u2019s Kremlin residence in Moscow in the early hours of the morning. Putin was not in the Kremlin at the time of the incident and no one was hurt, the statement added.<\/p>\n

Russia described the failed drone strike as \u201ca pre-planned terrorist act\u201d<\/em> and an attempt on Putin\u2019s life perpetrated by Kiev.<\/p>\n

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has denied his country\u2019s involvement in the attack, while US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has said that Washington could not \u201cin any way validate\u201d<\/em> Russia\u2019s claims.<\/p>\n

US National Security Council spokesman John Kirby responded to Peskov\u2019s comments by insisting that Washington was in no way involved in the incident. \u201cWe don\u2019t do that and we had nothing to do with it,\u201d<\/em> he told MSNBC.<\/p>\n

The Kremlin has vowed that Moscow will retaliate to the raid \u201canywhere and anytime it deems necessary,\u201d<\/em> while senior Russian lawmaker Vyacheslav Volodin has called for the use of \u201cweapons capable of stopping and destroying the Kiev terrorist regime.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
