The 84-year-old man who faces the rest of his life in prison for injuring a black teenager during what he thought was a home invasion told police he was \u201cscared to death\u201d during the incident.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Lester told police that Ralph Yarl was pulling on the exterior door of his Kansas City, Missouri home in an apparent attempt to break in, prompting him to grab his revolver and shoot the teenager, who is expected to make a full recovery.<\/p>\n

The elderly man told cops \u201che believed he was protecting himself from a physical confrontation and could not take the chance\u201d of the large male \u201ccoming in\u201d to his house where he lives all alone, according to the police affidavit.<\/p>\n

However, following White House involvement (Joe Biden even met with the injured teen\u2019s family), BLM protests and a concerted media outrage campaign, Lester\u2019s chances of a fair trial are basically non-existent.<\/p>\n

The narrative has now been set that Yarl was merely \u2018ringing the wrong doorbell\u2019 and that Lester\u2019s reaction was extreme and possibly driven by racism.<\/p>\n

\u201cLester stated he opened the interior door [to his home], and saw a black male approximately 6 feet tall pulling on the exterior storm door handle,\u201d the police\u2019s affidavit said. \u201cHe stated he believed someone was attempting to break into the house, and shot twice within a few seconds of opening the door.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cLester stated the male ran away and he immediately used his home phone to call 911,\u201d the statement continued. \u201cLester stated he had never seen the male before. He stated no words were exchanged during the incident and the male had not said anything prior to pulling on the door handle. Lester stated it was the last thing he wanted to do, but he was \u2018scared to death\u2019 due to the male\u2019s size and Lester\u2019s age (84) and inability to defend himself.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe believed he was protecting himself from a physical confrontation and could not take the chance of the male coming in. Lester was visibly upset and repeatedly expressed concern for the victim,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n

Lester was charged with assault in the first degree and armed criminal action against the 16-year-old after turning himself in to police.<\/p>\n

His chances of proving his innocence are now basically nil due to any potential jury feeling intimidated against anything other than rubber stamping a life sentence, due to threats of mass riots that might ensue should Lester be allowed to walk free.<\/p>\n

Large mobs of protesters have already staged numerous demonstrations outside Lester\u2019s home, which has also been repeatedly vandalized.<\/p>\n

As we highlight in the video below, while the incident in Kansas City received massive press coverage, demonstrations and White House intervention, a shocking incident in Chicago during which a white woman was viciously attacked by a mob of black teens went largely ignored.<\/p>\n
