The Stormer is a development of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/CVR(T)\">CVR(T)<\/a>\u00a0family of vehicles (<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/FV101_Scorpion\">Scorpion<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/FV107_Scimitar\">Scimitar<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/FV103_Spartan\">Spartan<\/a>\u00a0etc.), essentially a larger, modernized version with an extra road-wheel on each side.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Variants<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Like most modern AFVs, Stormer can be produced in several different configurations for different battlefield roles. It is marketed by BAE as being available in several configurations, such as a two-person turret armed with a 25\u00a0mm cannon, air defence (with guns or missiles), an engineer vehicle, a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Armoured_recovery_vehicle\">recovery vehicle<\/a>, an ambulance, a mine layer, an 81\u00a0mm or 120\u00a0mm mortar carrier, a command and control vehicle, a bridge layer, and a logistics vehicle. Optional equipment includes a nuclear-biological-chemical protection system, an amphibious kit, passive night-vision equipment, and an air-conditioning system.<\/p>\n<p>Specific types are:<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Stormer HVM<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/British_Army\">British Army<\/a>\u00a0use Stormer equipped with High Velocity Missile (HVM) \u2013 the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Starstreak\">Starstreak<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Martlet_(missile)\">Martlet (missile)<\/a>\u00a0aka Lightweight Multirole Missile for short-range air defense. Under the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Army_2020\">Army 2020<\/a>\u00a0plan for the British armed forces, Stormer HVM was to equip three regular and two reserve artillery batteries.
