{"id":265774,"date":"2023-03-02T07:06:32","date_gmt":"2023-03-02T07:06:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/?p=265774"},"modified":"2023-03-04T06:31:33","modified_gmt":"2023-03-04T06:31:33","slug":"gaza-childrens-artwork-removed-from-london-hospital","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/?p=265774","title":{"rendered":"Gaza Children\u2019s Artwork Removed from London Hospital"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Middle East Eye &#8212; via Global Research Feb 28, 2023<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p><em>A London hospital has taken down a display of artwork designed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.middleeasteye.net\/countries\/palestine\">Palestinian<\/a> schoolchildren from Gaza after complaints by a British pro-<a href=\"https:\/\/www.middleeasteye.net\/countries\/israel\">Israel<\/a> charity.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>According to a statement by UK Lawyers for Israel (UKLFI), the hospital was compelled to remove the artwork following a complaint by the NGO on behalf of a number of Jewish patients, \u201cwho said that they felt vulnerable and victimised by this display\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The artwork contained a display of decorated plates, along with illustrations of their significance. Entitled \u201cCrossing Borders \u2013 a festival of Plates\u201d, the display was shown by the entrance to the children\u2019s outpatients\u2019 department at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.<\/p>\n<p>It was designed by children at two schools run by UNRWA in Gaza and transferred onto the plates by children at the Chelsea Community Hospital school. The caption for one of the display plates was: \u201cThe olive branch is the symbol of peace and is used to express the wish for an independent Palestinian state.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The group said: \u201cThe drawings from Gaza all appear to be professional artwork, in the same style, and carried out by the same person,\u201d although it was said to have been designed by children at the Beit Lahia Girls\u2019 School and the Jabalia Prep Boys\u2019 A School in Gaza.<\/p>\n<p>UKLFI said in the complaint that some of the artwork displayed Palestine as covering the entire area of Israel.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">If you feel &quot;vulnerable&quot; and &quot;victimised&quot; having to look at a display of artwork by children from Gaza, imagine how those children feel when an Israeli soldier is pointing a gun at them. The Dome of the Rock and al-Aqsa mosque are located in East Jerusalem, an area designated as Israeli-occupied\u00a0territory in international law since 1967.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.middleeasteye.net\/countries\/israel\">Israel<\/a>\u00a0has imposed a land, air and sea\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.middleeasteye.net\/topics\/occupation\">blockade<\/a>\u00a0on Gaza since Hamas won legislative elections in 2006.
