The report doesn&#8217;t specify how the losses are counted and whether they include wounded and captured.<\/p>\n<p>These losses are suffered in Bakhmut, a strategically important city in Donetsk Oblast, Spiegel <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spiegel.de\/ausland\/russland-ukraine-news-am-freitag-britische-geheimdienste-bis-zu-50-000-wagner-soeldner-in-der-ukraine-a-be2408e1-6e72-4325-bc06-29d76e0c4d5e\" data-ylk=\"slk:reports\" data-rapid_p=\"7\" data-v9y=\"1\">reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The German Federal Intelligence Service warned that if Russians took Bakhmut, there would be severe consequences as it would give Russia the ability to advance.<\/p>\n<p>On Jan. 16, British intelligence <a href=\"https:\/\/kyivindependent.com\/news-feed\/british-intelligence-russian-forces-control-soledar\" data-ylk=\"slk:noted\" data-rapid_p=\"8\" data-v9y=\"1\">noted<\/a> that Ukraine\u2019s two main supply routes into Bakhmut are under increasing pressure.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier today, the Russian-led militants claimed to have captured the <a href=\"https:\/\/kyivindependent.com\/news-feed\/russian-military-says-it-took-over-klishchiivka-near-bakhmut\" data-ylk=\"slk:Klishchiivka\" data-rapid_p=\"9\" data-v9y=\"1\">Klishchiivka<\/a> settlement near Bakhmut.
