Robert Kellam, the US officer charged with overseeing the transfer, told reporters. \u201cWe\u2019ve got a couple other ports we\u2019re using across Europe as well. Ship tracking enthusiasts <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/auonsson\/status\/1613452483417759744\/photo\/1\">showed<\/a> the ship traveling from Virginia to Fort Hood, Texas to pick up the vehicles before shipping off to Europe.<\/p>\n<p>The US Army\u2019s Europe and Africa command has been shuttling military equipment and troops into and out of Europe since the spring of 2014 in the aftermath of the escalation of tensions with Russia following the Euromaidan coup in Kiev, which toppled Ukraine\u2019s Russia-leaning government and replaced it with one looking to join the European Union and NATO.<\/p>\n<p>The US command <a href=\"https:\/\/www.army.mil\/article\/263208\/port_operations_showcase_us_netherlands_and_joint_force_interoperability\">categorizes<\/a> its deployed units as \u201cready, combat-capable forces able to conduct extensive bilateral, joint, and multilateral training throughout its deployment to more than a dozen countries in Europe.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The pictured vehicles\u2019 destinations are said to include Poland and Lithuania. Last month, the US Embassy in Vilnius <a href=\"https:\/\/lt.usembassy.gov\/enhancements-to-persistent-u-s-force-presence-in-lithuania-press-release\/\">announced<\/a> that the US plans to intensify \u201ctraining with our Baltic allies to maintain combat credible capabilities and to enhance our defense and deterrence posture.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The White House announced last week that its new <a href=\"https:\/\/sputniknews.com\/20230106\/us-to-provide-over-3bln-in-new-military-assistance-to-ukraine-1106089946.html\">$3 billion<\/a> weapons package to Ukraine would include 50 Bradley IFVs, 500 TOW anti-tank missiles and 250,000 rounds of 25mm ammunition, as well as 100 M113 armored personnel carriers, and other heavy equipment.<\/p>\n<p>Russian officials have warned repeatedly that the delivery of heavy US equipment to Kiev threatens to escalate the conflict, and proves Moscow\u2019s long-held position that the crisis in Ukraine is a NATO proxy conflict against Russia.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sputniknews.com\/20230113\/us-abrams-tanks-bradley-ifvs-spotted-at-dutch-port-en-route-to-eastern-europe--photos-videos-1106296608.html\">Source<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The U.S. appears to beefing up its forces in Eastern Europe with literally hundreds of heavy armoured vehicles.
