As Africa, we believe that the institution of the family is the core of whatever we are doing.\u201d<span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The ACP-EU Partnership Agreement being discussed at the October 29 \u2013 November 2\u00a0summit is an updated version of the Cotonou Partnership Agreement, which was signed over 20 years ago and is used for \u201cgoverning trade and economic relations between the EU and all 48 Sub-Saharan countries in Africa, 16 Caribbean countries and 15 Pacific countries,\u201d according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zawya.com\/en\/press-release\/africa-press-releases\/uganda-we-oppose-the-african-caribbean-and-pacific-european-union-acp-eu-agreement-on-homosexuality-tayebwa-sejnhs16\">press release<\/a>.<span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have discovered that with the Post Cotonou agreement, there are hidden clauses concerning human rights,\u201d Tayebwa said. \u201cClauses to do with sexuality, promotion of LGBT\/homosexuality, and clauses to do with abortion. The EU is demanding that we take a certain route; they should also know the character of our society.\u201d<span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>According to the same press release, the \u201cACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly [JPA] was created to bring together the elected representatives of European Parliament and the elected representatives of the African, Caribbean, and Pacific states that have signed the Cotonou Agreement.\u201d<span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Meeting just twice a year, the organization focuses on addressing human rights issues, democracy, and \u201cthe common values of humanity.\u201d<span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Although this is the most recent incident, this is not the first time that Uganda or another African country has taken a stand against the LGBT agenda and push for the \u201cright\u201d to abortion which is increasingly permeating the western world.<span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233117&quot;:false,&quot;134233118&quot;:false,&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:1,&quot;335551620&quot;:1,&quot;335559685&quot;:0,&quot;335559737&quot;:0,&quot;335559738&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In October, Uganda publicly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifesitenews.com\/news\/uganda-rejects-united-nations-declaration-that-abortion-is-a-human-right\/\">refuted<\/a> a statement from the United Nations that abortion is a \u201chuman right.\u201d A total of 33 African nations rejected the organization\u2019s call for all of its members to provide \u201caccess to safe abortion\u201d within their borders.<span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Additionally, Kenya <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifesitenews.com\/news\/kenya-enforces-ban-on-lgbt-content-in-films-warns-against-chinese-contraceptive-pill\/\">enforced<\/a> laws in September which ban the marketing and broadcasting of any movies featuring LGBT content.
