He stated:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Technology is obviously the key. It created the problem in the first place. It\u2019s also a key to the solution, but by itself, technology is never a solution, because every technology can be used for for good or for ill. It depends on how you [use] it, [and] on which interests you take into account.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">So yes, we need people to work on the technological aspects, but we need the politicians to direct it in the right way for the benefit of the greatest number of people and of the entire ecosystem.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">One of the biggest dangers in technological utopianism \u2014 [the belief] that, \u201cOh, the technology will solve it\u201d \u2014 is a kind of Noah\u2019s arc syndrome, like in the Bible with the flood, that yes, eventually they built an arc, but just for five people or something like that. Almost everybody drowned.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">There is a very big danger that with climate change, when people talk about what our future going to be like, there is no \u201cus.\u201d There is no \u201cour future.\u201d Humanity might divide into a majority \u2013 maybe \u2013 of people who would suffer tremendously, and a minority that will have the resources, the wealth, [and] the technology to protect themselves, and even flourish in some kind of technological Noah\u2019s arc. This is extremely dangerous.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Again, I think one of the reasons that we don\u2019t see enough urgency \u2014 from leaders, from business elites, and so forth \u2014 is that in the back of their minds they are counting on a technological Noah\u2019s arc. and that\u2019s very, very dangerous.<\/p>\n<p>CNN\u2019s Bill Weir, who hosted the discussion, described the \u201cCOVID pandemic\u201d as a \u201cdress rehearsal\u201d for \u201cthe climate crisis\u201d while alluding to the contemporary leftist slogan \u201ctrust the science.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI keep coming back to the idea that the COVID pandemic is really a dress rehearsal \u2014 on a much smaller level \u2014 for the for the climate crisis,\u201d Weird said, \u201cand a reminder about how communities that have trust and faith in science, and each other, sort of suffer the least.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Corporate control in the form of \u201cbenevolent capitalism,\u201d he added, may yield \u201cplanet-saving\u201d protocols.<\/p>\n<p>He continued, \u201cThose who wait for those citizens to start dying suffer the most, but at the same time, we\u2019re still so divided globally within countries about these sorts of things, and there\u2019s a lot of hope that if governments can\u2019t pull it together, then maybe it\u2019ll be corporations, like benevolent capitalism.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Harari concluded by framing \u201cclimate change\u201d as an urgent threat to humanity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe don\u2019t have a lot of time,\u201d he held, \u201cbut it\u2019s still possible to change our priorities [and] to rewrite the rules of the game so that not just a tiny elite \u2014 but all the inhabitants of the planet \u2014 will have a better future \u2014 or, for starters, will have any kind of future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/environment\/2022\/09\/12\/yuval-noah-harari-climate-change-may-lead-to-technological-noahs-arc-for-elites\/\">Source<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>World Economic Forum advisor Yuval Noah Hariri argues that \u2018climate change\u2019 may be the most pressing challenge facing humanity.
