As a result, Russian gas flows toward Europe won\u2019t be coming back anytime soon, as <strong>moments ago Gazprom announced that it had \u201ccompletely halted\u201d transport of gas to Nord Stream until a previously undetected oil leakage is rectified. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>That could takes hours, days\u2026 or months.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>GAZPROM ISSUES STATEMENT ON NORD STREAM 1 MAINTENANCE<\/li>\n<li>GAZPROM: TRANSPORT OF GAS TO THE NORD STREAM PIPELINE HAS BEEN COMPLETELY HALTED UNTIL FAULTS ARE RECTIFIED<\/li>\n<li>GAZPROM: DURING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE WORKS OIL LEAKAGE WAS DETECTED<\/li>\n<li>GAS SUPPLIES TO NORD STREAM FULLY STOPPED<\/li>\n<li>GAZPROM STATEMENT <strong>GIVES NO TIME FRAME FOR RESTART OF GAS SUPPLY THROUGH NORD STREAM 1<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The \u201cshocking development\u201d is a massive blow to Europe, which is scrambling to fill up its gas storage ahead of winter and which has been trying to guess Moscow\u2019s next steps in the energy war for weeks.<\/p>\n<p>To quote Walter Sobchak, \u201c<strong>Mark it zero<\/strong>\u201d for the foreseeable future.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_258076\" style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/European-imports-of-LNG.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-258076\" class=\"wp-image-258076\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/European-imports-of-LNG-1024x510.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"319\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-258076\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Click to enlarge<\/p><\/div>\n<p>That means that Europe will now be forced to rely even more on\u2026 well\u2026 Russian gas, in the form of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/markets\/china-aggressively-reselling-russian-gas-europe\">much more expensive LNG resold by China<\/a>. And after tumbling by more than 50% in the past few days, we fully expect European gas prices are about to go super parabolic and take out all time highs as soon as trading returns on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>As Bloomberg puts it, \u201cit marks a dramatic escalation in Europe\u2019s energy crisis \u2014 and comes just as prices were easing.
