{"id":257352,"date":"2022-08-13T07:40:46","date_gmt":"2022-08-13T07:40:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/?p=257352"},"modified":"2022-08-14T06:51:15","modified_gmt":"2022-08-14T06:51:15","slug":"how-ukraine-lost-its-riches","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/?p=257352","title":{"rendered":"How Ukraine Lost Its Riches"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Moon of Alabama &#8212; Aug 10, 2022<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>On February 24, the day Russian troops crossed the borders to Ukraine, I wrote about the potential <a href=\"https:\/\/www.moonofalabama.org\/2022\/02\/disarming-ukraine.html\">end state of the operation<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Looking at this map I believe that the most advantageous end state for Russia would be the creation of a new independent country, call it Novorussiya, on the land east of the Dnieper and south along the coast that holds a majority ethnic Russian population and that, in 1922, had been attached to the Ukraine by Lenin. That state would be politically, culturally and militarily aligned with Russia.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_257354\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Ukraine-possible-future-outcome.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-257354\" class=\"wp-image-257354\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Ukraine-possible-future-outcome.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"404\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Ukraine-possible-future-outcome.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Ukraine-possible-future-outcome-480x323.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 600px, 100vw\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-257354\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Click to enlarge<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">This would eliminate Ukrainian access to the Black Sea and create a land bridge towards the Moldavian breakaway Transnistria which is under Russian protection.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">The rest of the Ukraine would be a land confined, mostly agricultural state, disarmed and too poor to be build up to a new threat to Russia anytime soon. Politically it would be dominated by fascists from Galicia which would then become a major problem for the European Union.<\/p>\n<p>On March 19 I <a href=\"https:\/\/www.moonofalabama.org\/2022\/03\/what-will-be-the-geographic-end-state-of-the-war-in-ukraine.html\">revisited the question<\/a> and added Kryvyi Rih (Kriwoi Rog in Russian), the yellow part of the map, to the list:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.moonofalabama.org\/2022\/08\/how-ukraine-lost-its-riches.html#more\">Continues in full &#8230;<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Moon of Alabama looks at the shape of a possible central Europe.
