The Associated Press Stylebook has issued a new woke guide on how to cover transgender issues.<\/p>\n

The AP had already advised writers to use \u201cthey\u201d as a singular pronoun back in 2017.<\/p>\n

Of course, the Gateway Pundit will not be following their guidelines.<\/p>\n

According to a report on Yahoo News<\/a>, the AP guide instructs writers to use \u201cunbiased language\u201d and to \u201cavoid false balance [by] giving a platform to unqualified claims or sources in the guise of balancing a story by including all views.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cA person\u2019s sex and gender are usually assigned at birth by parents or attendants and can turn out to be inaccurate,\u201d the guide says. \u201cExperts say gender is a spectrum, not a binary structure consisting of only men and women, that can vary among societies and can change over time.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Associated Press says that writers should refer to those they write about by their \u201cpreferred gender identity\u201d and avoid \u201cdeadnaming,\u201d or the act of using someone\u2019s birth name after they swap it for something to go with their new gender.<\/p>\n

The AP also promoted the concept of giving minors gender alteration treatments including hormones and surgeries.<\/p>\n

The report says, \u201cin describing \u2018gender-confirmation procedures\u2019 and \u2018gender-affirming care,\u2019 the guide explains that \u2018treatments can improve psychological well-being and reduce suicidal behavior.\u2019 The guide cites that the World Professional Association for Transgender Health \u2018recently lowered its recommended minimum age for starting gender transition treatment, including \u2018sex hormones\u2019 and surgeries. It says hormones can be started at age 14 and some surgeries at 15 or 17.’\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNew guidance suggests that \u2018pregnant women,\u2019 \u2018women seeking abortions,\u2019 \u2018pregnant people\u2019 and \u2018people seeking abortions\u2019 are all permissible, and writers should \u2018use judgment and decide what is most appropriate in a given story.\u2019 The update specifically advises against \u2018overly clinical language\u2019 like \u2018people with uteruses\u2019 or \u2018birthing people,’\u201d according to the report.<\/p>\n

AP continued to get political, writing \u201cstarting in 2020, conservative-leaning U.S. state legislatures began considering a wave of bills aimed at transgender youths. Many political observers assert that the legislation is being used to motivate voters by falsely framing children as under threat.\u201d<\/p>\n
