Barely 12 hours after Moscow signed a deal with Ukraine to allow monitored grain exports<\/a> from Ukraine\u2019s southern ports, Russia targeted Ukraine\u2019s main port of Odesa \u2013 through which grain shipments would take place \u2013 with cruise missile strikes.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe enemy attacked the Odesa sea trade port with Kalibr cruise missiles,\u201d Ukraine\u2019s operational command south wrote on Telegram, raising doubts about the viability of the deal that was intended to release 20m tonnes of grain to ward off famine in large parts of the developing world.<\/p>\n

Russia\u2019s defence ministry did not immediately confirm responsibility for the attack.<\/p>\n

Eyewitness footage posted on social media, taken in the port area, showed one of the missiles exploding close to the seafront behind rows of containers and not far from a docked ship.<\/p>\n

The landmark deal signed by Moscow and Kyiv on Friday is seen as crucial to curbing soaring global food prices, easing a supply crunch by allowing certain exports to be shipped from Black Sea ports including Odesa.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve only posted the opening paragraphs of the Guardian article because the rest is disinformation, pure and simple.<\/p>\n

Apart from repeatedly referring to Odessa as \u201cOdesa\u201d (one \u201cs\u201d not two, in the same way that the western MSM refers to Kiev as \u201cKyiv\u201d), the article also claims that Russia is enforcing a blockade of Ukraine\u2019s Black Sea ports.<\/p>\n

This ignores the fact that Ukraine deliberately mined large parts of its Black Sea<\/a> coast to deter Russian amphibious assaults.<\/p>\n

It also ignores Russian offers \u201cto provide safe passage\u201d for Ukrainian grain exports<\/a>.<\/p>\n

As they say, there are two sides to every story and the Guardian is only providing one side.<\/p>\n
