Justin Bieber has cancelled a series of shows on his latest tour after a virus caused \u201cfull paralysis\u201d on one side of his face.<\/p>\n

The Canadian popstar said he had been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome after a virus had damaged the nerves in his ear. He said he was suffering a \u201cpretty serious\u201d case in a video he posted to his Instagram page<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 28-year-old is currently on his Justice tour in North America and has cancelled performances in Toronto, Washington DC and New York.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cIt is from this virus that attacks the nerve in my ear in my facial nerves and has caused my face to have paralysis.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs you can see, this eye is not blinking. I can\u2019t smile on this side of my face. This nostril will not move, so there\u2019s full paralysis on this side of my face.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the three-minute long video he tries to smile, blink and move his face but parts of his face would not react. He said he has been doing facial exercises to recover.<\/p>\n

Researchers suggest possible link between Ramsay Hunt syndrome and COVID-19 vaccine<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Postgraduate Medical Journal<\/a> previously released an article under the Adverse Drug Reactions section on the website. It details the case of a 37-year-old man diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt Syndrome shortly after getting a COVID-19 vaccine jab.<\/p>\n

The authors of the article \u2013 Chariene Jane\u00a0Woo, Oscar Hou In\u00a0Chou and Bernard Man Yung\u00a0Cheung \u2013 are researchers from the University of Hong Kong\u2019s Department of Medicine.<\/p>\n

The researchers reveal that they diagnosed a previously healthy 37-year-old man with Ramsay Hunt Syndrome (RHS), two days after he got his first dose of the COVID vaccine.<\/p>\n

The symptoms apparently began with fever and pain in the right ear. Soon, the patient developed vesicles in his right ear and canal. It then developed into tinnitus and led to a loss of hearing.<\/p>\n

The patient also complained of facial palsy and numbness in the tongue.<\/p>\n

\u2018As his symptoms developed 2\u2009days after vaccination, we suspected the vaccination triggered RHS. This would be the first reported case of RHS after COVID-19 vaccination,\u2019 the researchers write.<\/p>\n

\u201cVaccine-related immunomodulation may be responsible for the RHS after vaccination,\u201d the researchers state.<\/p>\n

They conclude the article by saying: \u201cHS is rare for patients under 60 years old with no previous history of HZ. Therefore, COVID-19 vaccination was likely to be the stress causing reactivation of VZV.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat we have described is rare, and may be the missing link between COVID-19 vaccination and Bell\u2019s palsy, providing a plausible explanation for the facial palsy.\u201d<\/p>\n
