Monkeypox is back in the headlines as of yesterday, back to work after a short break.<\/p>\n

It burst onto the front pages, with concomitant BIG RED NUMBERS and daily case updates a couple of weeks ago, and then went quiet. The press pretty much stopped talking about it.<\/p>\n

\u2026until they started again.<\/p>\n

Yesterday it was reported that the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has \u201cupgraded\u201d monkeypox to a \u201cnotifiable disease\u201d<\/a>, meaning any positive test must be immediately reported to the government agency.<\/p>\n

Ever one for subtlety, the Telegraph\u2019s front page reports this as \u201cmonkeypox upgraded to same level as leprosy and the plague\u201d<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n

Across the pond, the US CDC has made the curiously synchronised decision to increase their travel alert on Monkeypox to level 2<\/a>, which recommends people \u201cpractice enhanced precautions\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s be clear here \u2013 the \u201cmonkeypox outbreak\u201d is a joke<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Anybody actually taking any of this seriously after the last two years of Covid hysteria needs a major reality check.<\/p>\n

At this point you should be assuming any disease \u201coutbreak\u201d is a hoax until proven otherwise. Really <\/em>proven, not \u201ctrust me, I\u2019m an expert\u201d<\/em> proven.<\/p>\n

For those who haven\u2019t got to that stage yet, consider all the ways that monkeypox is following the exact same path as \u201cCovid\u201d\u2026<\/p>\n

  1. The monkeypox outbreak was \u201cpredicted\u201d by an exercise<\/a> a few months before it happened. Just like Covid<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  2. We\u2019ve seen the narrative re-inforced by rumours that it\u2019s a bio-weapon. These accusations have gone both ways, with the Western press saying Monkeypox is a Russian bio-weapon<\/a> and Chinese rumours claiming it was deliberately released<\/a> by the US. Just like Covid<\/a><\/li>\n
  3. We\u2019re seeing institutions revising history<\/a> in order to inflate the potential threat of the disease. just like Covid<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  4. Monkeypox is being diagnosed via a PCR test<\/a>. These tests are going to become more widely available as test-makers \u201cseize the new market\u201d <\/a>and governments plan to \u201cramp up testing\u201d<\/a>. Increased testing (with an unreliable test) could artificially inflate \u201ccases\u201d, and feed the panic. Just like covid.<\/li>\n
  5. The monkeypox narrative is being pushed<\/a> by countries on both sides<\/a> of the \u201cNew Cold War\u201d. Just like covid<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    They\u2019re already resorting to the \u201cnew variant\u201d headline<\/a>, that wasn\u2019t a thing for Covid for almost a year. Is this due to desperation or impatience? Who can say, but there must be some reason for the accelerated timeline.<\/p>\n

    They\u2019re even trying to bring masks back into style<\/a> by claiming monkeypox may have become airborne<\/a>.<\/p>\n

    And, of course, the biggest similarity is in the solution: \u201cvaccines\u201d.<\/p>\n

    It has already been decided that vaccines originally designed for smallpox<\/a> work for monkeypox too, and that they are best way to stop the spread of the disease.<\/p>\n

    Meanwhile, the monkeypox story over at Science<\/em><\/a> tells us\u2026<\/p>\n

    As monkeypox threat grows, scientists debate best vaccine strategy\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

    It seems the \u201cexperts\u201d can\u2019t decide between \u201cring vaccination\u201d \u2013 where you vaccinate every close contact of a confirmed monkeypox case \u2013 or \u201cbroader vaccination campaigns\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n

    Note, they don\u2019t debate if we need a vaccine strategy at all<\/em>.<\/p>\n

    The US government is already set to spend at least 180 million dollars<\/a> on smallpox vaccines.<\/p>\n

    In Europe, pharmaceutical company Bavarian Nordic is seeing a huge up-tick in its contracts<\/a> as EU nations treat monkeypox as a \u201cwake-up call\u201d.<\/p>\n

    So, vaccine manufacturers are set to make a tidy profit\u2026Just like covid.<\/p>\n

    Whatever eventually comes of this story, it certainly seems that Covid has put a \u201cpandemic\u201d playbook in place, one that each new scare-disease will follow.<\/p>\n

    It\u2019s all so predictable\u2026and yet the people in charge actually expect us to believe it. Worst of all, some people actually will.<\/p>\n

    I started by calling monkeypox a joke, and that might be literally true. It\u2019s hard not to feel like they\u2019re making fun of us.<\/p>\n

    And if that\u2019s the case then, just like at school, the best thing we can do is simply ignore it.<\/p>\n
