{"id":249468,"date":"2022-02-12T07:40:14","date_gmt":"2022-02-12T07:40:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/?p=249468"},"modified":"2022-02-13T08:42:22","modified_gmt":"2022-02-13T08:42:22","slug":"us-deploys-b-52-bombers-to-the-uk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/?p=249468","title":{"rendered":"US deploys B-52 bombers to the UK"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>American Military News &#8212; Feb 10, 2022<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>The U.S. Air Force deployed four B-52 Stratofortress nuclear bombers to the United Kingdom today.<\/p>\n<p>The strategic bombers, belonging to the 5th Bomb Wing at Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota, arrived at Royal Air Force (RAF) base Fairford on Thursday, the service <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usafe.af.mil\/News\/Press-Releases\/Article\/2929961\/us-air-force-b-52-stratofortress-arrive-at-raf-fairford-for-bomber-task-force-e\/\">announced<\/a> on the same day.<\/p>\n<p>The Air Force said the bomber deployment, known as Bomber Task Force mission, is part of a regularly scheduled U.S. European Command (EUCOM) and U.S. Strategic Command (STRATCOM) joint mission series.<\/p>\n<p>Journalist Mikey Kay tweeted photos of the B-52s in flight on their way to the U.K. Kay indicated two B-52s are in Flight to RAF Fairford while another two are heading to Scotland first.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCallsign \u2018Hate 14\u2019 \u2013 one of four B-52s caught by @JTWAviationImag transiting the Welsh\/English Border heading to final destination RAF Fairford,\u201d Kay tweeted. \u201cFrom a close source, 2 of the B-52s headed to the ranges in Scotland first for training.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">2. Dakota, en route RAF Fariford, England to execute long-planned Bomber Task Force mission, a regularly scheduled U.S. European Command and U.S. Strategic Command joint mission series,\u201d Kay added.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. bombers flew with British Eurofighter Typhoons and Portuguese F-16 Falcon fighter jets, currently operating as part of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization\u2019s (NATO\u2019s) Icelandic Air Policing mission. The U.S. bombers also integrated with the U.K.\u2019s Joint Terminal Attack Controllers (JTAC) as part of a bilateral close air support training effort.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith an ever-changing global security environment, it\u2019s critical that our efforts with our allies and partners are unified,\u201d said U.S. Air Forces in Europe \u2013 Air Forces Africa (USAFE-AFAFRICA) commanding Gen. Jeff Harrigian. \u201cWe\u2019re in Europe training and collaborating together, because consistent integration is how we strengthen our collective airpower.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The B-52s will be stationed at RAF Fairford as part of a rotation where they will continue to integrate and train with partner and allied forces.<\/p>\n<p>The Air Force said it has been conducting bomber rotations in Europe like this one since 2018. The service said such rotations improve \u201ccooperation and operational capacity, capability and interoperability\u201d and \u201creinforce the U.S. commitment to NATO allies and coalition partners to maintain our collective safety and sovereignty.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This particular rotation of U.S. strategic bombers comes as around 100,000 Russian troops have amassed on the Russian border with Ukraine for months, raising concerns about a potential invasion.<\/p>\n<p>While Ukraine is not a NATO ally, it has requested NATO membership and the U.S. and other NATO-allied nations have begun transferring <a href=\"https:\/\/americanmilitarynews.com\/2022\/01\/us-sends-another-80-tons-of-weapons-to-ukraine-260-tons-total-so-far\/\">hundreds of tons of defensive weapons systems<\/a> to Ukraine and have called for Russia to withdraw from the region.<\/p>\n<p>This week, Russia <a href=\"https:\/\/americanmilitarynews.com\/2022\/02\/russia-sends-6-landing-ships-sub-to-black-sea-raising-threat-of-ukraine-invasion\/\">deployed six amphibious landing ships and an attack submarine into the Black Sea<\/a>, raising the risk of a Russian seaborne assault if Russia does choose to invade Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/americanmilitarynews.com\/2022\/02\/us-deploys-b-52-bombers-to-the-uk\/\">Source<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The B-52s landed in Britain after having practiced with British forward air controllers, a task often conducted by Special Forces units.
