Data released today by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) showed that between Dec. 14, 2020, and Oct. 29, 2021, a total of 856,919 adverse events <\/a>following COVID vaccines were reported to the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS).<\/p>\n

The data included a total of 18,078 reports of deaths<\/a> \u2014 an increase of 459 over the previous week. There were 127,457 reports of serious injuries<\/a>, including deaths, during the same time period \u2014 up 3,570 compared with the previous week.<\/p>\n

Excluding \u201cforeign reports<\/a>\u201d to VAERS, 634,609 adverse events<\/a>, including 8,284 deaths<\/a> and 52,685 serious injuries<\/a>, were reported in the U.S. between Dec. 14, 2020, and Oct. 29, 2021.<\/p>\n

Of the 8,284 U.S. deaths reported as of Oct. 29, 10% occurred<\/a> within 24 hours of vaccination, 15% occurred<\/a> within 48 hours of vaccination and 26% occurred<\/a> in people who experienced an onset of symptoms within 48 hours of being vaccinated.<\/p>\n

In the U.S., 418.6 million COVID vaccine doses had been administered as of Oct. 29. This includes<\/a>: 246 million doses of Pfizer<\/a>, 157 million doses of Moderna<\/a> and 15 million doses of Johnson & Johnson<\/a> (J&J).<\/p>\n

The data come directly from reports submitted to VAERS, the primary government-funded system for reporting adverse vaccine reactions in the U.S.<\/p>\n

Every Friday, VAERS<\/a> makes public all vaccine injury reports received as of a specified date, usually about a week prior to the release date. Reports submitted to VAERS require further investigation before a causal relationship can be confirmed. Historically, VAERS has been shown to report only 1% of actual vaccine adverse events<\/a>.<\/p>\n
