They said it was an error: Betsy DeVos disagreed<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Betsy DeVos, Donald Trump&#8217;s education secretary, on Thursday appeared on Fox News to discuss the\u00a0Abolitionist Teaching Network\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Press Secretary Jen Psaki distanced the Biden administration from the group, whose handbook was cited in federal papers<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>DeVos said she did not believe it was a mistake, and insisted it was evidence of the &#8216;far left&#8217; policies of the administration<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>She said it showed how &#8216;insidious&#8217; Critical Race Theory had become and the importance of parents pushing back<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The fallout comes after the Department of Education seemed to promote a group that champions the tenets of Critical Race Theory in a federal handbook\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>A co-founder of the group, Abolitionist Teaching Network, is reportedly linked to two DOE officials through the officials&#8217; past places of employment<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Harriet Alexander, Elizabeth Elkind and Katelyn Carelle \u2013 Daily Mail July 23, 2021<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>Donald Trump\u2019s education secretary on Thursday said her successor&#8217;s policies are &#8216;as far left as they come&#8217;, and accused the Biden administration of promoting divisive and dangerous ideas.<\/p>\n<p>Betsy DeVos spoke after the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/white-house\/index.html\"><strong>White House<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0was forced to admit it had made an &#8216;error&#8217; by promoting a group\u00a0that pushes teachers to &#8216;disrupt Whiteness and oppression&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Department of Education guidance on reopening schools had\u00a0linked to the Abolitionist Teaching Network&#8217;s &#8216;Guide for Racial Justice &amp; Abolitionist Social and Emotional Learning&#8217; in a section describing how schools are a &#8216;microcosm of society&#8217; and conversations essential to &#8216;race and emotional learning&#8217; should be &#8216;anchor tenets&#8217; in schools.<\/p>\n<p>DeVos said she was convinced it was not an error, and was rather a deliberate attempt to politicize the Department of Education.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;This notion that it was a mistake is an absolute falsehood,&#8217; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Having been there at the department for four years and working through the approval processes for anything that is put out from the department, I know full well that there were eyes on and full knowledge of this going on.<\/p>\n<p>We saw earlier this year, the grant process the department put out that basically was trying to bribe schools into using the 1619 Project in their materials,&#8217; she added.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;So this is just another reflection of the true nature of the Biden Department of Education.
