After all, this is the same guy who warned that Covid-19 could kill as many as 500,000 in the UK alone.

He made that estimate in March 2020 but it was only the most recent in a series of gross over-estimates he’s made.

In 2001 he predicted 130,000 deaths from Mad Cow Disease. There were in fact 200.

In 2002 Prof. Ferguson predicted 50,000 deaths in the UK from Mad Cow Disease. There were in fact 177 but as a result of his warnings literally millions of cattle and sheep were slaughtered.

In 2005 Prof. Ferguson predicted 150 million deaths from Bird Flu. There were actually 282.

With such a track record it’s obvious that Professor Ferguson is prone to making alarmist miscalculations. So why is the Evening Standard even bothering to speak to him? More to the point, why is the government still listening to him, especially after he was caught breaking social distancing rules to meet his married lover during Britain’s first lockdown?

Could it be that they are trying to foment trepidation among the public about another wave of Covid-19? Are they working together with “experts” like Professor Ferguson to prepare the way for the imposition of further lockdowns and restrictions?

This may seem contrary to recent trends, especially in the light of official announcements over the easing of lockdown restrictions. This is supposed to commence on July 19, when Boris Johnson says England will return as close to the pre-pandemic status quo as possible.

But will it really? Or will a partial lifting of restrictions give way to a sudden surge in cases?

Of course, this may not reflect an actual rise in the number of cases. It would only need a discreet manipulation of statistics to create the illusion of a sudden proliferation of cases, which could then be blamed on a premature lifting of restrictions.

So that as summer fades into autumn we could see the onset of another wave of infections, this time with new variants. Fuelled by scare stories in the media with alarmist headlines, this could all be used to justify the imposition of another, more restrictive lockdown before the onset of winter.

I realise that may sound alarmist, but it’s nowhere near as alarmist as Professor Ferguson’s predictions. Yet the mainstream media is still extensively quoting him and treating him as an ‘authority’. Why, when time and again he has proven to be so consistently wrong?

Covid cases could hit 200k a day after July 19, Neil Ferguson warns

Nicolas Cecil – London Evening Standard July 6, 2021

Covid cases could hit 200,000 a day after Boris Johnson scraps restrictions on July 19, a leading scientist warned on Tuesday.

Professor Neil Ferguson, an epidemiologist from Imperial College London, outlined how deaths from coronavirus could rise to around 200 a day under one of the bleakest scenarios, or some 25,000 in the third wave which has hit the country and is being fuelled by the Delta variant.

However, he believes the Government’s action in removing restrictions is “justifiable” and is “reasonably optimistic” that the country will escape some of the grimmer projections given the high levels of vaccinations in the UK.

Professor Ferguson, whose work was key to the Prime Minister ordering the first lockdown in March 2020, said the ratio between cases and deaths has been reduced by around eight to ten fold compared to the second wave

Continues …

Professor Ferguson should have been totally discredited after he warned that Covid-19 could cause as many as 500,000 deaths in the UK alone.
