{"id":236666,"date":"2021-06-23T07:30:29","date_gmt":"2021-06-23T07:30:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/?p=236666"},"modified":"2021-06-24T05:51:05","modified_gmt":"2021-06-24T05:51:05","slug":"bbc-bans-white-people-from-applying-for-18000-trainee-job-on-springwatch-and-the-one-show","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/?p=236666","title":{"rendered":"BBC bans white people from applying for \u00a318,000 trainee job on Springwatch and The One Show"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>BBC is advertising a one-year trainee production management role in Glasgow<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The position is\u00a0&#8216;only open to black, Asian and ethnically diverse candidates&#8217;<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Positive discrimination is illegal but &#8216;positive action&#8217; is allowed for trainee roles<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Jacinta Taylor \u2013 Daily Mail June 20, 2021<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/bbc\/index.html\"><strong>BBC<\/strong><\/a> has sparked a discrimination row after only allowing people from ethnic minorities to apply for a trainee position.<\/p>\n<p>The broadcaster is advertising a one-year, \u00a317,810 trainee production management assistant role with its Science Unit in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/glasgow\/index.html\"><strong>Glasgow<\/strong><\/a>, but the position is &#8216;only open to black, Asian and ethnically diverse candidates&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Positive discrimination is unlawful under the Equality Act 2010, but &#8216;positive action&#8217; is allowed for trainee and internship roles in areas where there is under-representation.<\/p>\n<p>The advert was posted online by Creative Access, a company that aims to boost the number of ethnic minorities working in the creative, media and arts industries.<\/p>\n<p>Whoever gets the post will have the chance to work on popular BBC shows including Springwatch, The One Show and The Truth About series.<\/p>\n<p>The advert by Creative Access says: &#8216;The successful candidate will be someone with a desire to build a career in the TV industry and a demonstrable interest in BBC Studios.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>A trainee researcher position with the Corporation&#8217;s Bristol-based Natural History Unit was also recently advertised as being open only to candidates from ethnic minority backgrounds.<\/p>\n<p>Last night, the BBC would not disclose how many training roles were similarly advertised, but a spokesman said: &#8216;The BBC is a welcoming, inclusive organisation committed to representing and reflecting our audiences. We support a scheme organised by Creative Access, an independent organisation dedicated to increasing diversity in the creative industries, which provides development roles, fully in line with the Equality Act.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>The BBC has previously talked of its &#8216;pride&#8217; in helping people from under-represented groups get their first break into the media.
