She was elected in 2016.<\/p>\n<p>In November, she was asked to vote on a proposal that removed two police resource officers from the two high schools in the city, and that would put a third party in charge of handling and processing complaints against the Los Altos Police Department, which has 32 officers and has received 1 use of force complaint in the last six years, and 15 complaints in total.<\/p>\n<p>She felt it was a rushed vote, pushed through by the outgoing mayor who wanted to get the proposal passed in her final days in office after the outrage sparked by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/us-race-relations\/index.html\"><strong>George Floyd<\/strong><\/a>&#8216;s killing.<\/p>\n<p>Lee-Eng voted to remove the school resource officer from one high school &#8211; where students said they didn&#8217;t want him anymore &#8211; but she voted to abstain on moving police complaints to a third party because she wanted to know how much it would cost the city. The others approved it.<\/p>\n<p>Immediately afterwards, she received a text from Kenan Moos, the 22-year-old organizer of Justice Vanguard warning her: &#8216;Your name will be all over the papers&#8217; and saying &#8216;we know there are racists that supported you.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Because the meeting was still ongoing and happening virtually on Zoom, she announced the text she&#8217;d just received. She never said that he had threatened her, but said she felt worried for her family&#8217;s safety.<\/p>\n<p>In the weeks that followed, Moos, his family and his supporters said repeatedly that it was racist of her to make out that he&#8217;d been threatening her, and that it increases his chances of getting killed by police.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Kenan-Moos.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-234801\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Kenan-Moos.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"306\" height=\"375\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Kenan-Moos.jpg 306w, https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Kenan-Moos-245x300.jpg 245w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 306px) 100vw, 306px\" \/><\/a>&#8216;Councilmember Lee Eng, your false accusation has put a target on my back. Some in the community may think that I pose a threat to others. My odds of a negative interaction with police are already high.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Lynette, your false accusations have increased the odds that I could be killed by the police,&#8217; he said during another town hall meeting, weeks later.<\/p>\n<p>His mother, Toni Moos, piled on.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;My husband and I were standing next to our son as he sent those texts&#8230;.At no point in time did he ever threaten her safety or that\u00a0of her family,&#8217; she said.
