2021<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p><strong>Israeli lawmakers have <a href=\"https:\/\/main.knesset.gov.il\/News\/PressReleases\/Pages\/press17.03.21.aspx\">passed legislation<\/a> that could see the government make it mandatory for all citizens entering the country to wear a tracking device.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The law says that Israelis returning to the country who have not had a vaccine can isolate at home so long as they accept a \u2018freedom bracelet\u2019, a GPS device that will track their every movement to ensure they do not break quarantine rules.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone who hasn\u2019t had a shot, or already had coronavirus and subsequently twice tested negative, and does not accept the tracking bracelet will be forced to undergo quarantine in a military manned facility.<\/p>\n<p>The devices were recently trialled on citizens returning through Ben Gurion Airport close to Tel Aviv.<\/p>\n<div align=\"center\">\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/qgd_mVbZBcU\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><br \/>\n&#8212;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The device, which looks like a smart watch is being produced by a company called SuperCom, which has previously worked with governments of several countries on systems to track and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biometricupdate.com\/202012\/biometric-tracking-for-parolees-and-prisoners-grows-supercom-and-tyler-tech-win-contracts\">monitor prisoners<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The company claims that those who used the device reported\u00a0\u201cvery positive and comfortable experiences\u201d and\u00a0\u201ca high rate of satisfaction\u201d\u00a0using the tracking bracelet.<\/p>\n<p>The development comes after a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.france24.com\/en\/live-news\/20210301-israeli-court-limits-use-of-spy-agency-to-track-virus-cases\">court ruling<\/a>\u00a0demanding that the country\u2019s domestic spy agency the Shin Bet must back off Covid-19 contact-tracing surveillance.<\/p>\n<p>The court ruled that the efforts are \u201cdraconian\u201d\u00a0and a threat to democracy in the country, and can only be used in emergencies.<\/p>\n<p>Israel is also operating a two tier society where those who have been vaccinated\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/summit.news\/2021\/02\/16\/israel-to-allow-green-pass-holders-to-access-public-spaces\/\">have a \u2018green pass\u2019 to go where they want<\/a>, and those who haven\u2019t must stay under lockdown.<\/p>\n<p><a
