In Dec 2019, just before Covid-19 first appeared in Wuhan, China, 2,092 people were admitted to hospital<\/span><\/a> with flu-like symptoms in England. In the winter of 2017-2018 there were an estimated 50,000 excess<\/span> deaths<\/span><\/a> in England and Wales, most of which were attributed to seasonal flu.<\/h4>\n

Strangely though this year there has not been A SINGLE case of flu detected in England. Not one. That in itself is odd but it raises a more serious question. Given the current media-driven hysteria over the \u201cpandemic” it\u2019s worth asking if cases of seasonal flu are now being diagnosed as Covid-19?<\/h4>\n

After all they share many common symptoms, so this is quite plausible.<\/h4>\n

The Independent seems entirely oblivious to this possibility, however. Instead it quotes \u201cexperts\u201d who attribute the total absence of flu this year to social distancing and other measures to contain Covid-19.<\/h4>\n

In other words, the Independent plays along with the official Covid narrative while glossing over facts that call it into question. Ed.<\/h4>\n

Experts say decline in infections could justify continued use of hand sanitiser and masks following coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n

Not a single case of influenza<\/a> has been detected by public health officials in England<\/a> for the past seven weeks, with infection rates at historic lows amid the ongoing Covid-19<\/a> restrictions.<\/p>\n

The social restrictions brought in to curb transmission of coronavirus<\/a>, combined with increased uptake of the flu vaccine<\/a>, have both been credited with driving down infections.<\/p>\n

Thousands of swab samples are processed and analysed by scientists at Public Health England<\/a> (PHE) every week to survey the prevalence of different respiratory diseases in the population.<\/p>\n

But of the 685,243 samples that have been reviewed at PHE\u2019s laboratories since the first week of January, not a single one has tested positive for influenza.<\/p>\n

In the week up to 31 December 2020, just one case of flu was confirmed by laboratory analysis.<\/p>\n
