Transport Secretary Grant Shapps has defended the introduction of 10-year jail sentences for those who lie about their travel at the UK border as “appropriate”.<\/p>\n

Under new measures due to come into force from Monday, UK and Irish residents arriving in England from 33 “red list” countries will have to pay up to \u00a31,750 to quarantine for 10 days<\/strong><\/a> in government-managed hotel rooms.<\/p>\n

As part of the enforcement of the new action, anyone who tries to conceal they had been in a “red list” country in the 10 days before their arrival will face a prison sentence of up to 10 years – a penalty which has caused concern among some MPs and former judges.<\/p>\n

Mr Shapps explained how the fresh restrictions are being introduced due to the government’s concerns about new coronavirus variants being imported, or becoming more widespread, in the UK.<\/p>\n

“What we’re dealing with now are the variants and, with variants, we cannot risk it in these final stages – where we’ve got the vaccine rolled out – that we might end up with a difficulty from variations, although we think so far that we’ll be able to take care of them through the vaccines,” he told Sky News.<\/p>\n

“And, because of that, we think… things like prison sentences for lying about being in one of those red list countries are appropriate.”<\/p>\n

So if you try to mislead customs control about where you have travelled you could face up to ten years behind bars. But if you try mislead the public about the nature of Covid-19, its severity or the scale of its spread then that\u2019s OK.<\/h4>\n

Take Professor Neil Ferguson for example. He originally warned that up to half-a-million Britons could die<\/a><\/span> from coronavirus, which in turn prompted nationwide lockdowns and an economic downturn.<\/h4>\n

Far from being penalised for this gross miscalculation, which has resulted in many smaller businesses closing and job losses, Professor Ferguson has continued to occupy a lucrative and influential post at Imperial College London.<\/h4>\n

From here, bankrolled by Bill Gates<\/a><\/span>, Ferguson still indirectly guides the government\u2019s response to Covid-19.<\/h4>\n

This illustrates how the “pandemic” has seen the emergence of two distinct classes. On the one hand we have a moneyed elite and their enablers, in government, the media and academia like Professor Lockdown, who help realise the elite’s plans. Both are effectively now above the law, either because they write those laws or exceptions are made for them.<\/h4>\n

While on the other hand we have the greater mass of humanity, living under what amounts to house arrest, who now face up to ten years in jail for misleading officials about where they have travelled.<\/h4>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
