Despite efforts by Twitter and Facebook to completely censor the bombshell New York Post story concerning Hunter Biden\u2019s \u201claptop from hell\u201d, it was the most popular political topic on those platforms, according to a report from Axios<\/a><\/span>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The report cites data supplied by social media engagement tracking firm NewsWhip, which revealed that\u00a0the Post\u2019s story \u201cgenerated 2.59m interactions (likes, comments, shares) on Facebook and Twitter last week \u2014 more than double the next biggest story about Trump or Biden.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

This was despite the fact that Facebook cracked down on users<\/strong><\/span><\/a> sharing the story,\u00a0and Twitter censored the link to the initial NY Post story, as well as follow ups<\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u00a0and related stories<\/strong><\/span>,\u00a0<\/a>and locked the accounts<\/a><\/strong><\/span> of anyone who attempted to share it.<\/span><\/p>\n

The New York Post\u2019s Twitter account is STILL locked<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, as Twitter is demanding deletion of all tweets related to the story.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Axios report also notes that five\u00a0of the ten most popular stories last week were about the Hunter Biden revelations, or the attempted censorship by Facebook and Twitter.<\/span><\/p>\n

Indeed, the censorship of the story almost overtook the actual story itself in terms of interaction.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cBehind the Biden story itself, Facebook and Twitter\u2019s response to the report was the second biggest topic last week,\u201d the report states, adding \u201cThe backlash largely came from the right, which accused the tech platforms of meddling in the election through inappropriate censorship.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The report also highlights that the Hunter Biden story was the 6th-most engaged article this month, only behind huge news such as Trump testing positive for COVID-19.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the figures, 83% of the interactions concerning the Hunter Biden story happened on Facebook, with 17% on Twitter.<\/span><\/p>\n

This all goes to prove that attempted censorship by big tech only amplifies scrutiny of the issue at hand.<\/span><\/p>\n

Perhaps they need a more bold move?<\/span><\/p>\n
