People worldwide DO NOT WANT \u201cSmart\u201d Meters \u2013 electric<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, gas, and water<\/strong><\/span><\/a>. Customers\u2019 rates have been increased to install them (see 1<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, 2<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, 3<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, 4<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, 5<\/strong><\/span><\/a>) and they DO NOT save meaningful amounts of energy<\/strong><\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tens of millions of \u201cSmart\u201d Meters have been installed and millions more are planned <\/strong><\/span><\/a>despite all their problems \u2013 their need for frequent replacement, fires<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, explosions, catastrophic cybersecurity risks (see 1<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, 2<\/a><\/strong><\/span>), etc. They also emit high levels of harmful electromagnetic radiation which can and have made people and animals sick (see 1<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, 2<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, 3<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, 4<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, 5<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, 6<\/strong><\/span><\/a>).<\/span><\/p>\n

Thanks to Thea Scarato, Executive Director of Environmental Health Trust<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, for testifying to her community council about the exposure risks to \u201cSmart\u201d water meters, how they contribute to E-Waste<\/a><\/strong><\/span> due to their short-life spans<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, and how they cause injuries and deaths to laborers<\/a><\/strong><\/span> who mine for the toxic ingredients needed to build these completely unnecessary and dangerous devices.<\/span><\/p>\n
