\"\"<\/a>After an absurdly partisan letter from \u201cpublic health professionals\u2019\u201d <\/a><\/span>vilified \u201cwhite protesters resisting stay-home orders\u201d but defended rioters who \u201cdemonstrat[ed] in response to \u2026 racism,\u201d we should laugh at anything this set babbles. And believe me, you will when you hear what \u201cSurgeon General Jerome Adams<\/a><\/span>\u201d \u201cwrote on Twitter<\/a><\/span>\u201d a few days ago:<\/h5>\n
\u201cSome feel face coverings infringe on their freedom of choice<\/a><\/span>\u2013 but if more wear them, we\u2019ll have MORE freedom to go out. Face coverings [leads to] less asymptomatic viral spread [leads to] more places open, and sooner! \u2026 Exercise and promote your freedom by choosing to wear a face covering!\u201d<\/h5>\n
Got that? By \u201cchoosing\u201d to obey official ninnies, we bolster our liberty! Otherwise, they\u2019ll send us back to our rooms like the children they deem us.<\/h5>\n
We might ignore ol\u2019 Jerome\u2019s bizarre conception of freedom if it were idiosyncratic. But too many of his victims define liberty as grotesquely as he does. No wonder we languish in a totalitarian dystopia.<\/h5>\n
The science on masks is as far from settled as the coronavirus is from smallpox. One \u201cexpert,\u201d wielding studies, swears masks will stop COVID19<\/span><\/a>; the next, armed with conflicting research<\/span><\/a>, insists they can\u2019t and even endanger us<\/span>.<\/a> I suspect that like most medical measures, masks affect each person differently. They help some while hurting others; were we free, everyone would determine what\u2019s best for his situation and health. But Our Rulers deny us even this bit of autonomy<\/a><\/span>.<\/h5>\n
Ergo, wearing masks is now hopelessly politicized, obliterating our chances of ever learning the truth. \u201cAccording to a poll conducted<\/a><\/span> by The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Health Research<\/span><\/a>, 76% of Democrats said they\u2019re more likely to wear a mask in public compared with 59% of Republicans.\u201d Predictably, \u201cPublic health experts and congressional Democrats<\/a><\/span> have expressed frustration over Trump\u2019s aversion to mask-wearing, while former Vice President Joe Biden \u2014 the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee \u2014 has embraced face coverings and called<\/a><\/span> Trump an \u2018absolute fool\u2019 for belittling the preventive practice.\u201d And \u201cIn Asia, masks aren\u2019t just shields<\/span>.<\/a> They\u2019re also symbols. They\u2019re an affirmation of civic-mindedness and conscientiousness \u2026\u201d Oh, right, and they aren\u2019t here? Biden proves that Western commies \u201cvirtue-signal\u201d with them, too. And trust the New York Slimes to blither ever so pompously, \u201cThe mask is a public health device<\/span><\/a>,<\/span> but it has also revealed itself as a mask in the more traditional sense: a tool in a social ritual, a fetish object that signifies a person\u2019s politics, gender expression and relationship to truth itself.\u201d I have only a vague idea of what that means, thank God. But the Times\u2019 contempt for those who refuse to play along is plain enough.<\/h5>\n
No matter. I long ago ceased caring whether masks protect me or anyone else: I will not wear one. Nor would I even if the facts staunchly supported their efficacy: whatever Leviathan orders, I do the opposite as far as possible. Lovers of liberty bristle at mandates, especially those pertaining to something as personal as wardrobe. And when a store, restaurant or church enforces the State\u2019s diktat, I head elsewhere, preferably after explaining why.<\/h5>\n
Why am I so adamant? Because of what this \u201cfetish object \u2026 signifies [about] a person\u2019s politics<\/span>.<\/a>\u201d Masks scream, \u201cI\u2019M A SLAVE WHO LOVES MY CHAINS! Kneel with me and lick up the Kool-Aid!\u201d They advertise that the wearer watches too much TV, that he\u2019s foolish and gullible. I\u2019d as lief waltz about the streets in a Che Guevara T-shirt as a mask.<\/h5>\n
Whether masks help or hurt is irrelevant to Our Rulers: only our deference concerns them. They are determined that we will comply, however senseless or disastrous their commands. Which prompts us to question whether the early contradictions regarding masks were deliberate (Jerome \u201cObedience is Freedom\u201d Adams announced in February, \u201cSeriously people- STOP BUYING MASKS!<\/a><\/span>\u00a0 They are NOT effective in preventing general public from catching #Coronavirus<\/span><\/a>, but if healthcare providers can\u2019t get them to care for sick patients, it puts them and our communities at risk!\u201d). Maybe such inconsistency wasn\u2019t as incompetent as we thought; maybe it was conditioning the sheeple to acquiesce no matter what.<\/h5>\n
Or maybe it was just another whopper, as the Arch-Fiend Fauci confessed a few days ago: \u201c\u2026the public health community<\/a><\/span> \u2026 were concerned that it was at a time when personal protective equipment, including the N95 masks and the surgical masks, were in very short supply.\u201d Once again, these insufferable busybodies lied, just as they did in their letter<\/span><\/a>. Two strikes, and they\u2019re out.<\/h5>\n
Nonetheless, politicians and bureaucrats aren\u2019t likely to relent on masks, a ubiquitous and ostentatious emblem of their power over us. Indeed, the CDC continues justifying them<\/a><\/span>. Then there\u2019s this from \u201ca primary-care professor at the University of Oxford<\/a><\/span>\u201d: \u201c\u2026the public will likely be wearing masks until \u2018there are no new cases, or very few cases.\u2019 Considering \u2026 the U.S. [has] surpass[ed] 2 million total cases, the country appears to still have a ways to go.\u201d Is that chortling I hear from Leviathan?<\/h5>\n
The beast\u2019s fervor for masks makes sense. But why do vast numbers of our countrymen embrace this expensive, uncomfortable, and inconvenient stratagem? Sure, a single mask may cost only a buck or two, but a month\u2019s worth lightens your pocket by $30<\/a><\/span> that you could have better spent on groceries (especially if you\u2019re newly unemployed: thank you, Rulers!). Multiply that three or four times for a family, and it\u2019s a serious chunk of change.<\/h5>\n
I haven\u2019t yet donned a mask, so I can\u2019t speak to their comfort, but someone who knows admits they\u2019re bothersome: \u201cWhenever [Joseph] Santarpia [at the University of Nebraska Medical Center] sees someone wearing a mask in public<\/span><\/a>, that person is constantly touching it \u2026. \u2018Masks are really uncomfortable, and no one wears them correctly,\u2019 he said.\u201d<\/h5>\n
Finally, I\u2019ll bet a good many folks leave the house or car in the morning only to retrace their steps for the mask they forgot.<\/h5>\n
So what\u2019s up? Why do so many Americans still sport these monstrosities? Perhaps because they revel in the thrill that coronavirus imparts to ho-hum lives. Suddenly, they\u2019re living on the edge! Ordinary actions\u2014shopping, working, dining in a restaurant, riding an elevator\u2014offer a delicious frisson of risk. Masks enhance this delusion. And wearing one is an easy way to Save Humanity. No need to sacrifice yourself, your time or much money, either. Most people yearn to serve a Greater Cause. Christians do so by sharing the Gospel\u2014and now, a weak, selfish and thoroughly indulged population can rescue the world with minimal effort.<\/h5>\n
It\u2019s essential, then, that we who love liberty eschew masks. Please God, we\u2019ll hearten those who buck a trend only when they see others doing so. And bucking this one is imperative: \u201cpublic health\u201d departments are already plotting another lockdown this fall<\/span>.<\/a> I\u2019m not sure whether these bureaucrats are inherently more dictatorial than average; I do know that as we value our life and liberty, we must abolish their fiefdoms.<\/h5>\n
But that\u2019s a Herculean, even impossible, task. Ohio\u2019s legislators tried merely to curtail the health department\u2019s authority<\/a><\/span> and failed<\/span><\/a>, even with the state\u2019s machinery at their fingertips.<\/h5>\n
So we\u2019ll go the next best route and flout these despots\u2019 decrees. Mock them, dispute them, deride them to family and friends. Neuter them every way you can, especially by rejecting masks (and if unconstitutional edicts require masks in your area, remember that nearly 90% of Americans are metabolically inflexible<\/a>. Accordingly, this letter exempts those in poorer health from suffocating themselves<\/a><\/span>).<\/h5>\n
