New filings to the Federal Election Commission show the PAC doled out nearly<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>\u00a0<a style=\"color: #ccffff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/docquery.fec.gov\/cgi-bin\/forms\/C00693382\/1422869\/\">$17 million<\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0last quarter, bringing its total cash disbursements this cycle to $48 million. Soros gave another\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #ccffff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fec.gov\/data\/receipts\/individual-contributions\/?contributor_name=george+soros&amp;two_year_transaction_period=2020&amp;min_date=01%2F01%2F2019&amp;max_date=12%2F31%2F2020\">$4 million<\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0directly to Democratic campaigns and committees without first depositing the money into his PAC. The $52 million cash influx is more than double Soros&#8217;s previous high of <a style=\"color: #ccffff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opensecrets.org\/overview\/topindivs.php?cycle=2016&amp;view=fc\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>$22 million<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, which came during the last presidential election.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Democratic candidates benefiting from Soros&#8217;s cash have railed against the influence of money in politics. Joe\u00a0Biden&#8217;s government\u00a0reform plan includes a promise to &#8220;reduce the corrupting influence of money in politics.&#8221; The presidential candidate&#8217;s website says, &#8220;We could improve our politics overnight if we flushed big money from the system and had public financing of our elections\u2026. Democracy works best when a big bank account or a large donor list are not prerequisites for office.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Such rhetoric from Soros-backed candidates has drawn criticism from the right. &#8220;While Democrats across the country sanctimoniously rail against the influence of dark money in politics, their party\u2019s largest donors are bankrolling a massive web of liberal organizations to get them elected,&#8221; one GOP operative\u00a0<a style=\"color: #ccffff;\" href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/2020-election\/soros-set-to-double-2016-election-spending\/\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/2020-election\/soros-set-to-double-2016-election-spending\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1595697130555000&amp;usg=AFQjCNF-rkcjSEhpes6B4GORxBOq6CMncw\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>told<\/strong><\/span><\/a> the\u00a0<em>Washington Free Beacon\u00a0<\/em>earlier this month.\u00a0&#8220;George Soros&#8217;s unprecedented spending further highlights just how dependent Democrats are on contributions from billionaires, despite their hypocritical rhetoric.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Soros is one of several Democratic megadonors who opened their checkbooks last month to provide large sums to outfits backing Biden and hammering Republicans. The Biden Victory Fund in particular has benefited from a windfall of cash. It pulled in a whopping $83 million thanks to the Democratic Party&#8217;s wealthiest donors,<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong> <a style=\"color: #ccffff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/docquery.fec.gov\/cgi-bin\/fecimg\/?202007159250161463\">including<\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0Soros, who donated $500,000.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">The liberal billionaire is taking steps to obscure his election spending this cycle. In the past, he made donations to groups directly in his own name. This cycle, he has operated primarily by transferring tens of millions from the Fund for Policy Reform, a $750 million nonprofit in his sprawling Open Society Foundation network, into Democracy PAC. The PAC then disburses it to other Democratic PACs and committees.\u00a0This arrangement allows Soros to keep his name from the top of donor lists. His $50 million in contributions makes him the largest donor of the 2020 cycle, though only $8 million is coming directly from him.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Soros has said he views the 2020 elections as especially important. Earlier this year during a speech at the World Economic Forum, the 89-year-old billionaire <a style=\"color: #ccffff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2020\/01\/23\/davos-2020-george-soros-says-china-leader-xi-is-trying-to-exploit-trumps-weaknesses.html\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>said<\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u00a0the &#8220;fate of the world&#8221; is at stake and <a style=\"color: #ccffff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/business-51230994\">referred<\/a> to Trump as a &#8220;con man&#8221; and &#8220;authoritarian&#8221; who is &#8220;willing to sacrifice the national interests for his personal interests.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Democracy PAC has provided financial backing to dozens of liberal PACs and state-level politicians. This past quarter, its donations ranged from $90,000 to $2 million. Some of the largest donations\u00a0<a style=\"color: #ccffff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fec.gov\/data\/disbursements\/?data_type=processed&amp;committee_id=C00693382&amp;two_year_transaction_period=2020&amp;min_date=04%2F01%2F2020\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>went<\/strong><\/span><\/a> to the Nancy Pelosi-linked House Majority PAC ($2 million), Chuck Schumer-tied Senate Majority PAC ($1.5 million), Planned Parenthood Votes ($625,000), and the dark money group\u00a0<a style=\"color: #ccffff;\" href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/2020-election\/dark-money-network-conceals-20-million-in-liberal-election-spending\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Sixteen Thirty Fund<\/strong><\/span><\/a> ($1 million).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Soros\u2019s $4 million in direct donations <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #ccffff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fec.gov\/data\/receipts\/individual-contributions\/?contributor_name=george+soros&amp;two_year_transaction_period=2020&amp;min_date=01%2F01%2F2019&amp;max_date=12%2F31%2F2020\">includes<\/a><\/strong><\/span> hundreds of thousands each to the DNC-led Democratic Grassroots Victory Fund, the Nancy Pelosi Victory Fund, and the Biden Victory Fund.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">The liberal billionaire has also increased his lobbying expenditures. The Open Society Policy Center, his D.C.-based lobbying shop, spent<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong> <a style=\"color: #ccffff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/issues\/soros-group-spends-record-48-million-on-lobbying-in-2019\/\">$48 million<\/a><\/strong><\/span> in 2019\u2014a personal record for Soros. This amount was more than corporate giants such as Amazon, Facebook, Boeing, and Google&#8217;s parent company, Alphabet spent.
