{"id":211231,"date":"2020-07-31T05:59:20","date_gmt":"2020-07-31T05:59:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/?p=211231"},"modified":"2020-08-03T07:22:25","modified_gmt":"2020-08-03T07:22:25","slug":"un-officials-cite-study-that-finds-lockdowns-school-closures-killing-more-children-than-covid","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/?p=211231","title":{"rendered":"UN Officials Cite Study That Finds Lockdowns, School Closures KILLING More Children Than COVID"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Steve Watson \u2013 Summit News July 29, 2020<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/coronavirus_colour.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-209774\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/coronavirus_colour.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"360\" height=\"203\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/coronavirus_colour.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/coronavirus_colour-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 360px) 100vw, 360px\" \/><\/a><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">UN officials have pointed to a study that reveals lockdowns and school closures are doing more harm to children than the coronavirus itself, with many more deaths expected to come from the reaction to the outbreak, rather than the pandemic itself.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">In a presentation seeking extra funding for coronavirus efforts, UNICEF director Henrietta H Fore said <a style=\"color: #ccffff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.unicef.org\/press-releases\/unicef-additional-67-million-children-under-5-could-suffer-wasting-year-due-covid-19\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Monday<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, \u201cThe repercussions of the pandemic are causing more harm to children than the disease itself.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">UNICEF nutrition program chief Victor Aguayo noted that the most harm is being done\u00a0\u201cby having schools closed, by having primary health care services disrupted, by having nutritional programs dysfunctional.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">The officials pointed to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #ccffff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thelancet.com\/journals\/lancet\/article\/PIIS0140-6736(20)31648-2\/fulltext#%20\">a study published in The Lancet<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>that notes\u00a0\u201cphysical distancing, school closures, trade restrictions, and country lockdowns\u201d\u00a0are worsening global child malnutrition.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">The study estimates that an extra 6.7 million children will be at risk, and that lockdowns and other coronavirus responses could lead to\u00a0more than 10,000 additional child deaths every month.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">The UNICEF officials noted that would mean 128,000 more deaths among children within the next year.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Study: Global Lockdowns Killing 10,000 Children Per Month<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/GG9DWHZpeY\">https:\/\/t.co\/GG9DWHZpeY<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Dan Bongino (@dbongino) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/dbongino\/status\/1288165039929729026?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 28, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">The study complies research from\u00a0the Washington-based International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) and the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">It concludes that shut down strategies could lead to \u201clife-long impacts on education, chronic disease risks, and overall human capital formation,\u201d in addition to\u00a0\u201cintergenerational consequences for child growth and development.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">The estimates are said to \u201clikely to be conservative, given that the duration of this crisis is unknown, and its full impacts on food, health, and social protection systems are yet to be realized.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">The study dovetails with <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #ccffff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/summit.news\/2020\/05\/26\/study-lockdown-will-destroy-at-least-seven-times-more-years-of-human-life-than-it-saves\/\">other research<\/a><\/strong><\/span> that has concluded lockdowns will conservatively\u00a0\u201cdestroy at least seven times more years of human life\u201d than they save.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\"><a style=\"color: #ccffff;\" href=\"https:\/\/summit.news\/2020\/05\/12\/leaked-study-from-inside-german-government-warns-lockdown-will-kill-more-people-than-coronavirus\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>The German government has concluded<\/strong><\/span><\/a> that the impact of the country\u2019s lockdown could end up killing more people than the coronavirus due to victims of other serious illnesses not receiving treatment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">As we have previously <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #ccffff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/summit.news\/2020\/05\/11\/thousands-of-people-are-dying-at-home-due-to-the-lockdown\/\">highlighted<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, in the UK there have already been up to 10,000 excess deaths as a result of seriously ill people avoiding hospitals due to COVID-19 or not having their hospital treatments cancelled.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\"><a style=\"color: #ccffff;\" href=\"https:\/\/summit.news\/2020\/05\/05\/south-african-data-analysts-lockdown-will-lead-to-29-times-more-deaths-than-coronavirus\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>A data analyst consortium in South Africa<\/strong><\/span><\/a> also found that the economic consequences of the country\u2019s lockdown will lead to 29 times more people dying than the coronavirus itself.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\"><a style=\"color: #ccffff;\" href=\"https:\/\/summit.news\/2020\/05\/25\/500-doctors-write-to-trump-warning-lockdown-will-cause-more-deaths\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Hundreds of doctors<\/strong><\/span><\/a> are also on record as opposing lockdown measures,\u00a0warning that they will cause more death than the coronavirus itself.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">While <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #ccffff;
