{"id":21027,"date":"2011-02-27T10:51:38","date_gmt":"2011-02-27T10:51:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/?p=21027"},"modified":"2013-06-15T06:44:16","modified_gmt":"2013-06-15T06:44:16","slug":"77-inquest-was-someone-afraid-to-reveal-the-causes-of-deaths","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/?p=21027","title":{"rendered":"7\/7 Inquest: Was someone afraid to reveal the causes of deaths?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Nick Kollerstrom \u2013 Terror on the Tube February 26, 2011<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">It is quite startling to realise that a special room had been set up to receive the dead of the July 7<sup>th<\/sup> bombings in a temporary morgue built on army land, the contract for which (see [1] below) arrived on the contractor\u2019s desk<em> on July 6<sup>th<\/sup>,<\/em> the day before the massacres.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">All the bodies of the dead were taken and cryogenically stored here.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">Not until the Inquest, five years later, did startled lawyers acting on behalf of the victim-families get to hear, <strong>that NO POST MORTEMS<\/strong><em><strong> <\/strong><\/em><strong> had been performed on the dead.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">Let us repeat this astonishing statement to ourselves, the better to realise our own astounded bafflement:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\"><strong>NO POST MORTEMS<\/strong><em><strong> <\/strong><\/em><strong> HAD BEEN PERFORMED ON THE DEAD.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">Let\u2019s listen to the bewildered comment from pathologist Dr. Awani Choudhary, one of the first doctors on the scene from the BMA at Tavistock Square, who testified to the Inquest about his attempts to save the life of Gladys Wundowa:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">\u201c\u2018I have not seen the post-mortem report, but I thought that she was bleeding from somewhere \u2026 S<em>o if the post-mortem says that she was not bleeding from anywhere, just had a spinal injury, I will be surprised\u2026<\/em><br \/>\nQ. Since you ask about the post-mortem, can I simply inform you that<strong>, as with all the other casualties of the day, no internal post-mortem was conducted i<\/strong>nto Gladys Wundowa, so unfortunately, much as we would like the answers to the questions that you\u2019ve asked, they don\u2019t \u2013<br \/>\nA. I\u2026 I\u2019m absolutely sure that she had had internal injury as well as a spinal injury, and <strong>I\u2019m absolutely surprised that a post-mortem has not been done through and through.<\/strong><br \/>\nQ. Well, Mr Choudhary, that isn\u2019t a matter to concern you.<br \/>\nA. Sorry.<br \/>\nQ. \u2026 we don\u2019t need to concern ourselves about that matter.\u00a0\u201c\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 (<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/7julyinquests.independent.gov.uk\/hearing_transcripts\/20012011am.htm\"><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">Jan 20 am, 63:22- 65:6<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\"> No, of course not. 52 dead and no post-mortems, nothing to worry about.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">WHAT COULD POSSIBLY EXPLAIN THE ASTONISHING DECISION NOT TO CARRY OUT POST MORTEMS? THE GREATEST MODERN ACT OF MASS-MURDER ON BRITISH SOIL AND NO ONE WAS INTERESTED IN COLLECTING PRECISE EVIDENCE OF CAUSE OF DEATH.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">SO MUCH COULD HAVE BEEN LEARNED ABOUT THE EXPLOSIONS AND THE EXPLOSIVES FROM SUCH MEDICAL EXAMINATIONS.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">IS IT UNFAIR TO SUSPECT THAT THE FAILURE TO COLLECT THIS BASIC INFORMATION WAS CAUSED BY FEAR (OR WORSE) THAT POST MORTEMS WOULD THROW UP SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE TO CONTRADICT\u00a0 A PREORDAINED NARRATIVE OF SUICIDE-BOMBER TERRORIST ATTACKS? MIGHT THE INJURIES HAVE INDICATED THE USE OF MILITARY-GRADE EXPLOSIVES TO WHICH THE \u2018TERRORISTS\u2019 COULD NOT POSSIBLY HAVE HAD ACCESS?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">The lawyer acting for the families expressed shock and outrage at the fact that \u2018cause of death\u2019 had not been definitely confirmed. Would their clients have to put up with \u2018brief, neutral and factual\u2019 statements over this most basic of issues? <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/news\/uknews\/terrorism-in-the-uk\/8331775\/MI5-accused-of-trying-to-gag-justice-over-July-7-bombing-inquest.html\"><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">The Telegraph<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\"> reported from the Inquest:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">\u201c\u2018But the bereaved families said the coroner should be allowed to go into much greater detail about how the deaths came about. They do not want a \u2018\u2019sterile\u201d conclusion that their loved ones were unlawfully killed that fails to rule on whether the security agencies could have prevented the atrocities or whether the emergency services could have saved more lives, their lawyers said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\"> \u2018Patrick O\u2019Connor QC, for the relatives, told the inquest in a legal argument hearing: \u201dOf course the bereaved interested persons would be very disappointed. But the public may well be quite astonished if that were the position and we were literally kept to the kind of one, one-and-a-half, two sentence verdict in the inquisition that is suggested by some.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">\u2018He added: \u201dThe statue of Justice is very often depicted blindfolded, but never gagged.\u201d\u00a0(18 Feb., 2011)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">An Inquest without any post-mortems? By way of to trying to remedy this situation, the Inquest turned to the MOD. Why should it be their business? They had to <em>construct a model<\/em> to show the probable fatal injuries and likely causes of death for those with no obviously fatal external injuries. Colonel Mahoney, Defence Professor of Anaesthesia and Critical Care at the Royal Centre for Defence Medicine in Birmingham, spent a couple of days at the Inquest explaining the situation, whereby \u2018virtual Underground carriages\u2019 had been constructed as models, but it all seemed rather vague:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\"> \u201cQ. But your approach must, overall, be read subject to a number of caveats?<br \/>\nA. Yes.<br \/>\nQ. Firstly, as you mentioned, there was no invasive post-mortem in any case.<br \/>\nA. Yes.<br \/>\nQ. Secondly, the X-ray examination was limited, as you\u2019ve just said, to fluoroscopy?*<br \/>\nA. Yes.<br \/>\nQ. Thirdly, although you have photographic evidence, in some cases the photographs were difficult to interpret, for reasons I won\u2019t explore with you?\ufffd<br \/>\nA. Yes.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 [<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/7julyinquests.independent.gov.uk\/hearing_transcripts\/31012011pm.htm\"><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">Jan 31 pm 5:3-17<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">]<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\"> <strong> Still Clueless about the Explosions<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\"> Colonel Mahoney was faced with not only an absence of post-mortems, but also with a weird absence of a coherent theory about the explosive that had been used \u2026 We saw how <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/terroronthetube.co.uk\/latest-77-articles-3\/77-what-went-bang\/\"><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">earlier in February<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\"> the Government\u2019s explosives experts at the Inquest had to tiptoe around the fact that none of them would endorse the government\u2019s peroxide-and-black pepper story. Asked to prepare a report for the Inquest, Colonel Mahoney did so. We note a couple of remarks he made there, from comments he had heard from Clifford Todd, the forensic expert.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">His report alluded to \u2018Mr Todd\u2019s opinion that the devices were consistent with the use of high explosives.\u2019 In no way can peroxide and black pepper be called a high explosive. Secondly, he found \u2018There is little evidence from Mr Todd\u2019s evidence to suggest that the devices produced a significant heat output.\u2019 (\u2018<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/7julyinquests.independent.gov.uk\/evidence\/docs\/INQ10552-17.pdf\"><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">Blast waves and their effect on the Human Body\u2019, pp.18 &amp; 19<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">) Any peroxide bomb with back pepper as a base <em>is<\/em> a thermal bomb, because the heat comes from the rapid oxidation of the pepper. The more home-made the bomb the more it is going to be \u2018thermal\u2019 ie produce heat. Only the high-blast expertly made explosives of the military will yield a pure blast without heat.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">Thus Colonel Mahoney\u2019s report nullifies the Inquest\u2019s <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/terroronthetube.co.uk\/latest-77-articles-3\/77-what-went-bang\/\">silly joke<\/a><\/span><em> <\/em>about peroxide and black pepper \u2013 it points back to the first theories about the 7\/7 blast, which emerged in the week after the event, when the real experts were averring that a military explosive had been used.\u00a0 Colonel Mahoney is the author of several books on this topic: Lady Justice Hallett alluded to \u2018the area in which you are most expert: namely, the effects of explosive devices.\u2019\u00a0 (<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/7julyinquests.independent.gov.uk\/hearing_transcripts\/31012011am.htm\"><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">Jan 31 am, 66:3-4<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">)<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">What happened to the Bodies?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">Why did the families have to wait for a week or sometimes even more, before they learned of the fate of their lost ones? A study by Jenny Edkins (University of Wales, Aberystwyth, author of \u2018Trauma and the Memory of Politics\u2019) about the way <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.st-andrews.ac.uk\/intrel\/media\/Edkins_missing_persons.pdf\"><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">7\/7 victims were treated <\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\"> explained, \u2018This paper is motivated by a concern, an anger even, at the way in which people were treated by the authorities in the aftermath of the London bombings of July 2005. In particular, communication with those searching for missing relatives or friends was one-way or nonexistent. This treatment, it seems to me, provides an example of what Michael Dillon has called \u201cgoverning terror\u2026\u201d\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">\u201c\u2018Families were plunged into a world of Disaster Victim Identification Forms, Police Liaison Officers, and stonewalling by officials\u2026. In the aftermath of the explosions on the London underground and in Tavistock Square in Bloomsbury on Thursday 7 July 2005, relatives of the missing were kept waiting for up to or over a week for information about where their sons and daughters, friends and family members might be.\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\"> We cite five examples:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">*\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Marie Fatayi-Williams was only allowed to see her son Anthony\u2019s body on July 14th <strong>a week later<\/strong> . A police officer was standing around. She had to make a great deal of fuss to obtain this, and she kept being advised against it. She tells this in her book, <em><a href=\"http:\/\/terroronthetube.co.uk\/reviews-2\/for-the-love-of-anthony\/\">For the love of Anthony<\/a><\/em>.\u00a0\u00a0She is never <em>given the body<\/em>, she cannot bury her own son.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">*\u00a0\u00a0 A film by Benedetta Ciaccia\u2019s former boyfriend, Raj Babbra,\u00a0called \u20187\/7 \u2013 Life Without Benedetta\u2019,\u00a0 has her father and mother, speaking in Italian (in\u00a0Part 3 at 3:58, with only a bit of it subtitled), say: \u2018It\u2019s an awful thing to lose your child \u2026 let alone not being able to see her dead \u2026 they didn\u2019t show her to me \u2026 I was advised not to see her \u2026 we were told it was better to remember her the way she used to be.\u2019 They never even got to see her body.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">*\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 John Taylor, 60, whose 24-year-old <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/1\/hi\/uk\/5098448.stm\"><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">daughter Carrie<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\"> died in the Aldgate blast, described how it took 10 days for he and his wife to discover that their child had died.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">*\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In <em><a href=\"http:\/\/terroronthetube.co.uk\/reviews-2\/a-song-for-jenny\/\">A Song for Jenny<\/a><\/em> by Julie Nicholson (2010), the Reverend Julie Nicholson asks a policeman why it was taking so very long before she heard about her daughter Jenny (p287), her book gives the wierd reply: \u2018He confirmed four hundred body parts had been recovered and <strong>sent to a specialised laboratory in Bosnia for ID,<\/strong> which could take several weeks.\u2019 \u2013 no comment! She was dissuaded from wanting to see her daughter\u2019s body, but she insisted. She knew it was her daughter Jenny (she wrote) because of the hands.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">*\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Relatives of Samantha and Lee, a couple who both died as a result of the bombings, did not get a formal identification of Samantha until 16 July, nine days after she gave her full name to her rescuer at Russell Square. The parents complained, \u2018We were never asked if we could or would like to see her or be with her. We do not know where her body was kept.\u2019 Asked Jenny Edkins, \u2018Why was it not possible for this family to be with the body? Why was the information that she was dead withheld from them?\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">The default position may have been, that families did not see the bodies of the deceased. Whatever was going on, the protocol seems quite macabre. Alison Anderson and Robert McNeil were the experts in body identification who organised the mortuary after the July 2005 London bombings, and they had worked for the United Nations in Bosnia and Kosovo. Why did the families need to wait for so long? Why was there a military company coping with the bodies? We can only wonder what was written on the death certificates, as next to nothing seems to have been ascertained about how they died.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">J7 have written what is arguably their <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/77inquests.blogspot.com\/2011\/02\/colonel-mahoney-in-porton-down-with.html\"><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">most brilliant piece yet<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\"> on this topic, and let\u2019s quote here from it:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">\u201cSo, assumptions are piled upon presumptions and houses of cards are built on shifting sands. These are the openly-stated unknown unknowns from which the bereaved families are meant to learn how they lost their loved ones.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\"> <strong>[1]\u00a0\u00a0 Military site for the Bodies<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">It is also quite startling to realise that a special room had been set up to receive the dead \u2013 <em>starting work on July 6<sup>th<\/sup>,<\/em> the day before the 7\/7 massacres.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">Here is a statement about what happened on that day, and where the bodies went:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">\u201cBased in Northamptonshire in the UK, the company [<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.deboer.com\/_upload\/documents\/UK\/Brochures\/Case%20Studies%20-%20HAC.pdf\"><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">De Boer<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">] had already completed several contracts for the Metropolitan Police \u2026The De Boer team spent months visiting permanent mortuaries and attending meetings with London Resilience to suggest a suitable structure and interior design\u2026 Six months later on July 6, 2005, a document arrived at De Boer\u2019s UK headquarters finalising what had been agreed for a future crisis response. Within 24 hours the plan was being realised .and implemented with the creation of a temporary mortuary in the grounds of the Honourable Artillery Company near Moorgate Underground Station in central London.\u2019 (source, \u2018<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/z13.invisionfree.com\/julyseventh\/index.php?s=1e105edc394e6e75b88ba5ce3ade31ad&amp;showtopic=683&amp;st=77&amp;#entry15016608\"><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">London\u2019s Response to 7\/7\u2019<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\"> David Donegan\u00a0 <em>Office of the Strategic Health Authorities at NHS, in <\/em><\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.crisisresponsejournal.com\/\"><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">www.crisisresponsejournal.com<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\"> no longer online, held in J7 archives:\u00a0 and quoted <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/77inquests.blogspot.com\/2011\/02\/colonel-mahoney-in-porton-down-with.html\"><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">here<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">)\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\"> Good timing or what? Thus an \u2018emergency mortuary\u2019 was established on a <em>Military<\/em> site in the City of London \u2013 the <em>day before<\/em> the catastrophe.\u00a0Not only did this military site receive all of the bodies, but it set up ancillary sites adjacent to the four blast sites on the morning of July 7<sup>th<\/sup>: \u2018<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.deboer.com\/_upload\/documents\/UK\/Brochures\/Case%20Studies%20-%20HAC.pdf\"><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">Outside of the mortuary<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\"> De Boer also provided structures and furniture at each of the Underground Stations affected, and refrigeration facilities at the site of the bus bombing.\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">The De Boer company managed it so well that, in recognition, its project manager was invited to meet Tony Blair at Downing Street. It was felt that, at such very short notice \u2013 after all, they only got the job on July 6<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 they had done a fine job. Concerning the swift freezing of the bus bomb victim bodies: while researching <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.co.uk\/Terror-Tube-Behind-Veil-Investigation\/dp\/0930852737\"><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">\u2018Terror On The Tube\u2019<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\"> . I could only see two or three corpses lying around in all of the photographs of that bus wreck, so I guess the De Boer team must have removed them swiftly.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">We are also reminded of the big FEMA vans that arrived to clear up the damage in New York at Ground Zero on 9\/11 (Federal Emergency Management Agency): they were proud of how quickly they arrived, in fact they arrived<strong> (by a similar sinister precognition) on Monday evening, the day before the very surprising 9\/11 event.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026..<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">*\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 The \u2018fluoroscopy\u2019 method was described as \u2018a limited form of X-ray,\u2019 which showed embedded bits of metal etc. Thus, \u2018Primary surveys of whole bodies in unopened body-bags were undertaken using fluoroscopy by teams of two radiographers and a pathologist.\u00a0 The aim of the primary survey was to establish the nature of the contents of the bag,..\u2019 (Forensic Radiography:\u00a0 Response to the London Suicide Bombings on 7th July 2005, Mark D.
