A\u00a0post\u00a0shared widely\u00a0on social media purports to show a\u00a0leaked video of Bill Gates presenting a\u00a0vaccine plan\u00a0to \u201cimmunize\u201d\u00a0religious fanatics,\u00a0to the Pentagon, the headquarters of the U.S. Department of Defense. The video\u00a0is\u00a0considered\u00a0a hoax that has been circulating for years.<\/span><\/p>\n

Examples of the\u00a0recent posts can be seen here<\/strong><\/span><\/a> , here<\/strong><\/span><\/a> and here<\/strong><\/span><\/a> . Older versions link the purported \u201cleaked video\u201d to a government conspiracy or plan to eradicate religious freedoms (here<\/strong><\/span><\/a> , here<\/a><\/strong><\/span>). The hoax has led to many false conspiracy claims, including a website dedicated to this \u201cplan\u201d titled, \u201cStop FunVax Now!\u201d ( funvax.wordpress.com\/about\/<\/a> ).<\/span><\/p>\n

Broadly, the\u00a0four to\u00a0five minute\u00a0video (depending on versions) shows a man presenting a slideshow on the \u201cVMAT2\u201d, or \u201cGod gene\u201d\u00a0and a vaccine\u00a0called \u201cFunVac\u201d or \u201cFunVax\u201d\u00a0to eliminate it. The discussion\u00a0with the\u00a0attendees\u00a0includes\u00a0the argument that\u00a0religious fundamentalists\u00a0would\u00a0pose less of threat if they receive this\u00a0vaccine.\u00a0The presenter claims the proposal for this plan has \u201cjust been submitted\u201d. He\u00a0concludes by\u00a0claiming the\u00a0project has \u201cgreat promise\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is clear, by looking at higher definition versions of this video, that\u00a0the presenter\u00a0is not Bill Gates\u00a0(higher resolution version visible here<\/a> ).\u00a0A spokesperson for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation confirmed to Reuters via email that the video does not show Bill Gates.<\/span><\/p>\n

VMAT2 is the scientific name for\u00a0\u201cVesicular monoamine transporter 2\u201d,\u00a0a\u00a0protein\u00a0that\u00a0carries neurotransmitters such as dopamine, encoded in humans by the\u00a0SLC18A2\u202fgene\u00a0( here<\/a><\/strong><\/span> ). A study on VMAT2 interacting with drugs is visible here<\/a><\/strong><\/span> , while another on VMAT2 in neuropsychiatric disorders is visible here<\/strong><\/span><\/a> .<\/span><\/p>\n

The video may have been inspired by the book \u201cThe God Gene: How Faith Is Hardwired into Our Genes\u201d by Dr Dean Hamer\u00a0( here<\/a><\/strong><\/span> ).\u00a0The book discusses\u00a0how \u201ca variation in the\u202fVMAT2\u202fgene plays a role in one’s openness to spiritual experiences\u201d ( here<\/strong><\/span><\/a> , here<\/strong><\/span><\/a> ).<\/span><\/p>\n

Since at least 2011, the video has been subject to scrutiny over its origins and creation on many online forums\u00a0providing different theories\u00a0(examples here<\/strong><\/span><\/a> and here<\/a><\/strong><\/span> ).\u00a0Some point to awkward lip syncing\u00a0or tones of voice, others to the large font used for the date and timestamps, and\u00a0some\u00a0hint the men in the video may be actors\u00a0(at the very end the speaker looks straight at the camera awkwardly).<\/span><\/p>\n

The video includes images of brain scans (visible at 3:13 youtu.be\/jRg41D8SOq0?t=193<\/a> ).\u00a0Posts\u00a0on\u00a0Metabunk\u2019s\u00a0forum\u00a0( here<\/strong><\/span><\/a> )\u00a0place the images of the brain scans\u00a0as coming from a 2010 case article on Neurology.org\u00a0titled \u201cA case of confusion and bilateral temporal lesions in a young woman\u201d\u00a0( here<\/strong><\/span><\/a> ). Both images in the video take the\u00a0brain scan labelled \u201cB\u201d in the article have overwritten it with color for supposed brain activity.<\/span><\/p>\n

Leadstories, in\u00a0its\u00a0factcheck of this video,\u00a0points\u00a0to\u00a0a trailer\u00a0for \u201cFunVax\u201d ( here<\/strong><\/span><\/a> )\u00a0and\u00a0a now-defunct\u00a0Kickstarter campaign for a documentary that would explore whether this\u00a0video is a hoax or not\u00a0( here<\/a> <\/strong><\/span>).\u00a0FunVaxDoc\u2019s\u00a0YouTube account includes\u00a0videos discussing\u00a0the documentary\u00a0and a presumed trailer.<\/span><\/p>\n

It remains unclear if the video was created as a prank, a creative project, or\u00a0out of genuine belief\u00a0in\u00a0the conspiracy. However,\u00a0details in the video hint toward it being staged and not an authentic \u201cleak\u201d, and higher definition versions clearly show the presenter\u00a0is not Bill Gates.<\/span><\/p>\n

VERDICT<\/h2>\n

False. While it is unclear if the video is a hoax or prank, this video does not feature Bill Gates talking to the\u00a0Pentagon about\u00a0a\u00a0vaccination\u00a0for religious fundamentalists.<\/span><\/p>\n

Reuters readily dismisses the video as false but that is to be expected given that the news agency is owned by the Rothschild dynasty<\/span><\/a>.<\/h5>\n
“Not a single announcement will reach the public without our control. Even now this is already being attained by us inasmuch as all news items are received by a few agencies, in whose offices they are focused from all parts of the world. These agencies will then be already entirely ours and will give publicity only to what we dictate to them.” – Protocol 12:4 The Protocols of the Elders of Zion<\/h5>\n
Moreover, while Reuters dismisses the video there is an undeniable resemblance between the presenter in the 2005 video and the younger Bill Gates. He even sounds like Gates with the same distinctive nasal twang.<\/h5>\n
So it’s no surprise that Reuters and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation have denied that the video features Bill Gates. After all, he is currently leading a campaign for global vaccination against Covid-19 and a video purportedly showing a younger Gates describe how people can be vaccinated against religious fervour is the last thing he wants.<\/h5>\n
So while we reserve judgement we leave readers to make up their own minds whether the video features Bill Gates.<\/h5>\n
One final point. While the speaker in the video may not be a younger Bill Gates it may be one of his doubles. After all, we know that many prominent politicians use doubles<\/span><\/a>, so why not Bill Gates? Ed<\/h5>\n
