Click to enlarge<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">Iran\u2019s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard said on Wednesday it launched a military satellite into orbit amid wider tensions with the US, a successful launch after months of failures.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">There was no immediate independent confirmation of the launch of the satellite, which the Guard called \u201cNoor,&#8221; or light.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">The Guard on its official said the satellite successfully reached an orbit of 264 miles\u00a0above the Earth\u2019s surface.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">The two-stage satellite launch took off from Iran\u2019s Central Desert, the Guard said, without elaborating.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ccffff;\">The launch comes amid tensions between Tehran and Washington over its collapsing nuclear deal and after a US\u00a0drone strike killed <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #ccffff; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/news\/0\/qassim-soleimani\/\">Guard Gen.
