Ed<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">Angry mourners bury slain Iran nuclear scientist<br \/>\nAFP \u2013 January 14, 2010<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/tale-of-two-funerals-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-20111\" title=\"tale of two funerals 1\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/tale-of-two-funerals-1-300x188.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"188\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/tale-of-two-funerals-1-300x188.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/tale-of-two-funerals-1.jpg 350w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Angry mourners chanting anti-American and anti-Israeli slogans joined a funeral procession Thursday for the Iranian nuclear scientist killed in a bomb attack Tehran blames on the US and Israel.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">An AFP correspondent said that some 2,000 people thronged the house in an affluent north Tehran neighbourhood of Massoud Ali Mohammadi, who died Tuesday when a booby-trapped motorbike exploded as he was leaving home.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">Around 100 policemen were deployed in the area.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">\u00a0Relatives and members of the elite Revolutionary Guards placed the body of Ali Mohammadi, a particle physics professor at prestigious Tehran University, in an ambulance which then took off for the burial at a nearby shrine.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">A military marching band led the procession to the shrine, followed by hundreds of mourners many of whom were chanting &#8220;Death to Israel&#8221; and &#8220;Death to America.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">Mourners also chanted slogans against the so-called &#8220;hypocrites&#8221; \u2013 the Islamic republic&#8217;s term for the outlawed People&#8217;s Mujahedeen.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">Some chanted, &#8220;Nuclear energy is our undeniable right&#8221; in an allusion to accusations by Iranian officials the killing was an attempt by Western powers to disrupt Iran&#8217;s controversial nuclear programme.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">People close to Ali Mohammadi have stressed his close links with the elite Revolutionary Guards, where he seems to have worked for more than 20 years until 2003.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">Neither the police nor the intelligence services have yet reported any leads in their investigation but several top officials have pointed an accusing finger at the CIA and Israel&#8217;s Mossad spy agency.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">On Thursday the media advisor to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad told AFP that the United States, Britain and Israel were &#8220;high on the list of suspects.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">&#8220;Our security and intelligence apparatus are pursuing those behind the blast to bring them to justice as soon as possible,&#8221; said Ali Akbar Javanfekr.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">&#8220;America, Britain and Israel have the most animosity towards our scientific progress, especially the nuclear programme, so when our scientists are targeted they become high on the list of suspects,&#8221; he said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">Similar allegations by other Iranian officials of US involvement in the attack have been dismissed out of hand by Washington.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">Parliament speaker Ali Larijani, Iran&#8217;s former chief nuclear negotiator, on Wednesday accused US President Barack Obama of state terrorism over the killing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">But Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki has stopped short of explicitly accusing Washington of being behind the bombing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">&#8220;The action taken &#8230; by the enemies of logic, justice, humanity and the Iranian people is being investigated by relevant authorities,&#8221; Mottaki said when asked about accusations of US and Israeli involvement.\u00a0<br \/>\n<\/span><a href=\"www.google.com\/hostednews\/afp\/article\/ALeqM5iEcFiIxV6U7-eL8D6d3m4_lIFp1Q\"><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">Source<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\"> <em><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">The above report seems fairly straightforward. However, the following Associated Press report is different, so different in fact that it could almost be another funeral entirely. Some carried green banners, the color symbolizing their movement, and shouted support for the opposition. The other side chanted &#8220;Down with the U.S.&#8221; and &#8220;Death to Israel&#8221; as mourners carried the body shrouded in an Iranian flag on their shoulders.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">Some cameramen and photographers covering the funeral were taken to a police station, where their press IDs were checked. They were later released.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">The 50-year-old Tehran University professor was killed when a bomb-rigged motorcycle exploded Tuesday morning outside his home as he was leaving for work. It remains unclear why the researcher with no prominent political voice, no published work with military relevance and no declared links to Iran&#8217;s nuclear program was targeted for assassination.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">Authorities blamed an armed Iranian opposition group acting on behalf of Israel and the U.S. The U.S. government forcefully denied any involvement and Israel did not comment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">Before the disputed June presidential election, Ali Mohammadi had signed a list of 420 Tehran University faculty supporting the leading opposition candidate, Mir Hossein Mousavi. In recent weeks, hard-line government supporters have called for the execution of the opposition leaders.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">But the professor did not take any known high-profile role in anti-government protests after the election.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">Mousavi&#8217;s supporters claim he was the rightful winner of the election and allege Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was declared president through fraud.\u00a0<br \/>\n<\/span><a href=\"www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/content\/article\/2010\/01\/14\/AR2010011400615.html\"><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">Source<br \/>\n<\/span><\/a><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">(Snip) <strong><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">Comment \u2013 January 14, 2010<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/tale-of-two-funerals-3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-20113\" title=\"tale of two funerals 3\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/tale-of-two-funerals-3-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/tale-of-two-funerals-3-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.thetruthseeker.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/tale-of-two-funerals-3.jpg 350w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>The Associated Press report about \u201cduelling protests\u201d does little to substantiate its version of events beyond claiming: \u201cwitnesses said\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">Who\u00a0these witnesses\u00a0are and\u00a0in what capacity\u00a0they attended the funeral\u00a0isn&#8217;t explained.\u00a0At least the AFP report is able to cite an AFP \u201ccorrespondent\u201d\u00a0but beyond claiming \u201cwitnesses said\u201d the Associated Press report offers no other corroboration.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">Indeed, it\u2019s not beyond the bounds of possibility that the so-called \u201cwitnesses\u201d were the creation of a Western intelligence operative. One who was intent on fomenting dissent in Iran, or at least creating that impression.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">Note also that first report was at least able to cite the location of the funeral at \u201cthe house in an affluent north Tehran neighbourhood\u201d. Whereas the Associated Press report doesn\u2019t bother to locate the event at all, almost as if they read about the funeral on newswire somewhere and wrote a new version of events.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">However, the Associated Press does offer some further perspectives by claiming \u201chalf of about 1,000 people at the funeral for Masoud Ali Mohammadi were opposition supporters\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">\u00a0Going to far as to claim: \u201cSome carried green banners, the color symbolizing their movement\u201d. But then given that green is the colour of Islam and Muslim ceremonies, it would not have been out of place at Masoud Ali Mohammadi&#8217;s funeral either.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">Strangely the AFP report makes no mention of \u201chalf\u201d the mourners being \u201copposition supporters\u201d. No mention whatsoever, which seems odd given that they attended the funeral in such numbers and with \u201cgreen banners\u201d too, as the Associated Press claims.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">Also a little odd is the fact that none of the photos accompanying the Associated Press report show any of these \u201cgreen banners\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">Moreover, the Associated Press report doesn\u2019t attempt to ask who was behind Masoud Ali Mohammadi&#8217;s assassination. In fact you would almost think they were trying to conceal that point by claiming:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">\u201cIt remains unclear why the researcher with no prominent political voice, no published work with military relevance and no declared links to Iran&#8217;s nuclear program was targeted for assassination.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">In fact Masoud Ali Mohammadi was a particle physics professor at Tehran University and as such would have been a key personal component <em>if<\/em> \u2013 and I repeat <strong><em>IF<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 Iran has a nuclear weapons program. Making him a prime target for assassination by Iran\u2019s enemies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">The morning following Mohammadi&#8217;s funeral the Times of London took another angle on the proceedings. It claimed that &#8220;regime loyalists&#8221; had <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.timesonline.co.uk\/tol\/news\/world\/middle_east\/article6988037.ece\"><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\"><strong>hijacked<\/strong><\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\"> the event.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">All of which illustrates why Iran has accused the western media of working in conjunction with western intelligence to <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/story\/0,2933,581359,00.html\"><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\"><strong>foment recent unrest<\/strong><\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">They may have a point.
