Taxpayers in the city of Hamburg, Germany have been forced to spend close to \u20ac5.35 billion on asylum seekers from 2015 to the end of 2019, official reports have revealed.<\/span><\/p>\n

The previously hidden figures were released by the Hamburg Senate following a demand from the Alternative for Germany (AfD) citizens\u2019 group, Junge Freiheit\u00a0reports.<\/span><\/p>\n

In 2015, the city spent just under \u20ac735 million on expenses for the accommodation and integration of migrunts. The following year, the city\u2019s spending on migrunts swelled to \u20ac1.5 billion, while in 2017 and 2018 spending dropped to about one billion per year.<\/span><\/p>\n

As of June of 2019, the city\u2019s expenditures on migrants were at roughly 500 million. By the end of this year, the Senate expects German taxpayers to have spent close to \u20ac800 million to house, clothe, feed, and educate the migrants.<\/span><\/p>\n

Alexander Wolf, the chairman of the AfD parliamentary group in Hamburg, criticised the city\u2019s enormous expenditures on migrant welfare, referring to them as \u201cthe insane cost of [Germany\u2019s] refugee policy.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The \u201castronomical sums\u201d spend on migrant welfare \u201cwithout [Hamburgers] ever being asked whether they want it at all\u201d are \u201ca bottomless bit\u201d Wolf continued while pointing out that five billion euros in five years is as much as the \u201cgross domestic product of many African countries\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s not just Hamburg taxpayers who are being forced to spend astronomical sums of money on migrants. In September, Germany\u2019s Federal Employment Agency released\u00a0figures\u00a0which revealed that 40 percent of all welfare recipients in Germany are foreigners, costing German taxpayers more than 4 billion euros each month.<\/span><\/p>\n
